I usually buy stuff used and 2nd or 3rd generation behind the latest...cheaper that way

I'd love an iPhone, but for the phone bill cost I think I'll pass. Given that every Starbucks and McDonalds has free wifi, I just bring a laptop and pop it open if I need internet... if it saves me $1000 a year on phone bills
