I lost my 13 year old Blue Heeler /Border Collie mix dog last weekend... now I'm thinking it wasn't natural, Purina Dog Chow/ Pedigree/Healthy morsels mix with table scraps and the Ol Roy dog biscuits and once a week I feed each one of them a half pound of raw hamburger apiece (non lean) ...
Sorry to hear that , I've pretty much had a dog all my life , even had 3 dogs at one time , pets are for life ..... would never give a dog up , on dog life expectancy I can say yes a healthy diet is important , we had an overweight dog that I was sure would live the shortest life , she would finish her bowl and all the other dogs bowls too , she ended up living the longest 13-14 yrs.
My most heartfelt loss was a purebred small poodle , who got parvo-virus strain , died on my lap on the way to the vet, it was a Sunday when the vet was closed so I made an emergency call , I cried my eyes out , yeah I liked the dog but those tears were for my Grandma who I knew would be devastated , and she was and everytime the subject came up I would relive it again .
We were dogless for a year and a half , talk about silence in the house , finally I gave in and picked up a mutt , everyone likes him but he has behavioral problems , so 1st dog that I have thats not people friendly , he's Half Pirahna and Half Tiger LOL, actually a Wire haired Terrier mix who gets a haircut from me and looks a little like Wishbone from the PBS series ( very Cute ) , unfortunately I gotta keep him away from kids.
My Dog could've been trained with more discipline , but then I have to re-train my family , nothing worse than telling a Dog to get off a bed or a couch and have someone else telling the dog to get up on the couch or the bed ( then you wonder where the behavioral problems come from ). My family members got a scolding from me on several occasions , but they insist he's a baby , I gave up on ( my family members learning anything) , I really like this Dog but have to admit it's probably the last one ( so I say ), Grandmas 93 going on 94 and it's tough to go on vacation without leaving someone behind.
My dog will play with dry dog food , doesn't like the biscuit either , I tried the biscuit , really I did ..... funny it wasn't bad , had a touch of honey LOL....
He does love Pig ears ...... don't even try to take it , he'll let you know he's serious.
