Does it matter which way you aim your KING One Pro or Tailgater?

Whenever I look at one of the KING auto-aiming satellite dishes, I can’t help but be impressed. I mean think about it a second. These things are barely more than a foot wide. They aim themselves. And when you consider the price, they are incredibly good values. In-motion systems for RVs and boats are routinely in the mid 4-figures, and yes they do more than the KING products. But if you’re looking for something to work for you quickly when you’re parked, it’s amazing that you can get something like this for such a low price.

Let me put it this way. It’s actually cheaper to buy a KING dish than it is to buy a satellite meter for DIRECTV or DISH and aim it yourself. If you ask me, that’s pretty impressive.

How to aim a KING portable satellite dish.

Once you connect up the dish to a receiver (and a power source if applicable,) just place it on a flat surface with a clear view of the southern sky. When you power everything up, it should “just work…” and the dish will go into its self-aiming routine. When it’s complete, you should be able to start watching TV. However, there’s a “pro tip” which should cut down the time it takes for the dish to finish aiming and start showing live TV.

Every KING product has a handle. It’s one of the neat little touches that you get when you buy from KING. These devices can be a little hard to hold on to unless there’s a big handle to help you. You can see the handle at the left of this picture, and if you have a KING satellite dish, you won’t be able to miss it.

For fastest aiming, make sure that the handle is pointing due north. In other words, if you’re looking at the dish from the top, the outer edge of the handle is facing north. It doesn’t have to be precise but the closer you can get it, the faster you’re going to get to live TV. Using the compass on your phone it should be easy to get to that point.

And don’t forget, place your satellite dish on a level surface with a clear view of the southern sky. People ask if the surface needs to be perfectly level. Again, the dish will compensate if things aren’t totally level, but the closer you get, the faster you’re going to get to live TV.
