Do you need a motorized dish with 4DTV?

Hello,

My only interest is subscribing to Discovery Digital on the AMC11 satellite. That is all I want. Does the dish have to move to another bird to get the authorization or can it be done on AMC11? Currently, I cannot put a motor on my BUD.

It might be a problem. 4DTV needs to go to G1 every night to update and I don't believe (but could be wrong) that there is a TP on AMC11 (C3) that can be used to authorize the unit. Give a call to whoever you're planning on buying the service from and ask them if they can authorize your unit if it's fixed on C3. By the way, you're going to have to subscribe to a package to get Discovery.

If thats all you want it will be fine, only thing is I am not 100% sure the maps are on AMC-11, I am pretty sure you can get a hit on the showtime channels.

going to G1 TP3 each night only downloads the guide. It still works without the guide

As far as the authorization of programming, it will work fine on C3. Use channel 101. G3 is the only satellite without a datastream...(no authorizations/re-hits possible from there)
