Do subscribers have any pull whatsoever when it comes to getting their locals in HD? Or is it all about the agreements between the locals & Dish?

Cleveland is now the largest DMA without HD with E*.

C'mon E*- make someone else the largest city without HD.

i dont think so, it seems like most decisions are made by charlie, and they dont tend to favor the consumer, they favor the check book.

You really need to quit... You're creating more phone calls than you're resolving at this point.

Tomyo10,

Consumers have limited pull but there is a financial and demand factor from DISH's perspective. The demand in a particular region has to justify the expense to have an agreement for HD broadcasting, the costs associated with it, and a reasonable profit. If acquiring the channel just meant DISH would break even, it wouldn't make good business sense to acquire it, whether some customers would like it or not. Good business deals are ones in which money is made. Locals tend not to make money at large for DISH, only the networks.

The two big things are transponder space and agreements to carry the signals if space is available.

Just because you live in a big market does not mean that they have transponder space available to make HD locals available.
