Do I need to fine tune?

I finally installed SG2100 & Extreme 0.3(bought from PSB) with Pansat 3500, 36” dish aimed at T6 which is my TS sat. It took me one full day to get it. So far, I had set the motor to move from T6 to T5 and Amc4. Very cool

My question is, do I need to fine tune anything to get better signals? Or these signal levels just about right for T6? (Please look at the chart below)

Also, where can I get an active transponder list for the T5 and Amc4 to compare? Signal level of T5 seems low for most of TP’s around 45% - 72%. Or is't ok?

T6
1, 11834 V 20.508 = 0% (signal)
2, 11728 H 4.000 = 0
3, 11819 H 6.510 = 0
4, 11865 V 3.516 = 60
5, 11877 V 5.082 = 45
6, 11904 V 5.000 = 48
7, 12042 V 3.979 = 75
8, 12047 V 3.979 = 0
9, 12053 V 3.979 = 60
10, 12058 V 3.979 = 60
11, 12132 H 3.105 = 0
12, 12173 V 3.000 = 0
13, 11864 V 3.515 = 60 (manual added. Thanks PSB)

Thanks for any help.

So the numbers you have above are for IA6 (T6?)

If they are, you still have the PC card right? If I not mistaken, PC cards signals seem to read a little low

For a list of active transponders, check www.lyngsat.com

Thanks for fast replied.

Yes, those numbers are for T6 read out from Pansat 3500. No PC card involve at this point.

you might want to fine tune a little bit. Doc Scott (11865) on my 1500 is a little higher (75 or so)...but otherwise those are pretty good numbers :)

another transponder you might want to try is Lord & taylor

12175 freq
V polarity
5147 symbol rate

That one is pretty strong too (Doc Scott seems to fluxuate a lot)

Yes, I did try to tweak it but not much improved. The quality level seems a little higher during day time. Is it true?

I usually find my signals are better at night, any pictures of the set up?
Make sure the LNBF is straight up and down when pointing at IA-6, at the zero position on the motor. Try moving the LNBF closer and further away from the dish in its holder and watch the signal quality.

Also make sure the dish/reflector has not been over tightened onto the mount, the four bolts should only be hand tight then around half a turn with a wrench.

What do you mean?

Yes.

Tried this but not much difference.

Checked, everything good.

It doesn’t bother me much with a little low signals. So far I can see all my favorite channels. I'm cool with that :)

Thanks.

I was wondering if you had a digital camera, if you post a few pictures we may be able to see if there is something not right with the set up, you want to get it as good as you can now as you will need the best signals you can get when the winter comes : )

There are two marks on top of the pole and on the mounting bracket. If I line up those marks, it will be at Amc4. The gap between two marks is about 1/8”.

Ok, I had the receiver outside, next to the dish, hook it up, and check the level and quality before touch the dish.

I noted one of the connection was a little loose, re-tighten it, and at this times, all tp’s of T6 level are above 80% and quality some where around 75% - 90%. So my guess is the connection was loose.

Bring the receiver inside next to TV, the level drop to about 72% - 78% and quality 67% - 78%.

I think, neither the Sun is warming up the dish right now or the length of the cable from the motor to the TV. Have to check it again tonight to find out more.

Remember the angle on the motor should NEVER be changed, it MUST be kept at 45 deg.

Any adjustments are done ONLY on the dish.

Well, the quality % did not change much at night times now, and the level % still in the mid 70’s. I would assume cable length is the issued. I would say the length is about 90’ max.

Oh..well.

90' of cable is nothing! If you are having problems its going to be the ends on the cable not the length that will be the problem.

Good Luck!
