Do I need to call up Dish to use 61.5?

Going on a short vacation with friends to the Outer Banks of NC (ie clear view of 61.5). I want to take the dish. I have an extra 500 dish laying around that I'm not using and wondered if I could use this 500 dish at the house to pick up 61.5. I figure it'd be easier to point one of the LNBs on the 500 rather than the 3 on the 1000. And I don't feel like taking down the 1000 and have to repoint to 110, 119, and 129 upon my return.

We would be using a VIP211 receiver. I have the Bronze HD package. I realize I wouldn't get SyFy, TNT, ESPN, HBO, and SHO on 61.5, but everything else. And no PPV since no phone line.

Just wondering if this would work without a phone call to Dish. Or do I automatically get 61.5 since I'm a paying customer? I don't want to go and screw up my account with "switch arounds." Calling up customer service stinks.

Thanks in advance.

you automatically get availability of all dish sats regardless of status.....of course you have to subscribe to channels to see them :)

take the D500 and aim it at 61.5. You will need to rerun a check switch to load 61.5 in there and those channels but it will be fine. You do know you'll only get the channels on 61.5 and no other channels

Sweet! Thank you!

And yeah, Iceberg, I know. I have the Bronze HD package only with 3 months free of HBO and SHO, and the Cinemax auto-debit promotion. We're only interested in the movie channels so the only ones missing on 61.5 are HBO-E and SHO-E. Don't care about the rest. Thanks!

I knew 61.5 & 119 had a EPG. Was doing some monkeying around today with an old Dish 5000 (yeah I know) and a Dish 811. Both populated the guide on 119 only & 61.5 only

I was thinking of doing something similar, so I think this answered my question too. I was going to aim my rooftop Winegard on the RV at 129 and pick up the HD channels there.
