I am new to this forum. Since DishNetwork lost my west coast stations, I'm wondering if I would be able to get news and time-shift viewing from Ku band or C band? My friend tells me no, all distant stations scrambled. How can I watch distant stations?

You won't pick up the same stuff as you had on Dish Network, but there are some local network affiliated stations on free-to-air. Go to http://www.global-cm.net and look in the Mpeg area where there's a list of fta stations that you can pick up. On some, rare, occassions, some of the scrambled Bell Express Vu and Dish Network stuff might open up as unscrambled, but it's rare, and when it does happen it typically doesn't stay that way long. However, most of the nets on G10r and some of the other ku band stuff should stay pretty open for many years to come (*hopefully*)

if you're looking for the nets, you're kinda out of luck. There is a ABC from Wyoming but none of the rest on KU. Fox is from East Coast

Thanks for the help!

Thanks, guys, for the help. Your suggestions were all helpful, and I appreciate it. Have a blessed Christmas!
