This is rather off-topic for Satelliteguys.us, but of historical interest to Scott and others who set up http://dishsupport.com for Dish. I can't view it right now. I see either a "down for maintenance" message or the Goggle Attack Page warning. Hmmm.

Don't know I don't work on that site anymore. :)

But when I go there I get the message...

"Hello There!

DISHSupport.com is offline for some minor maintenance work. We expect to be back shortly. If you have questions or concerns, please email forums@dish.comThank you for your patience and support."

Once Scott wasn't involved any more I quit going there.

So much for maintenance. It's looking like Scott's gut was right. (He said in another thread on the subject that he would not be surprised if DishSupport never comes back.) I would guess not all Dish execs signed on to it's existence, or simply don't want to spend money doing something done better here. I am also worried about the number of customers who used DishSupport for bitching and moaning about serious bugs that are never addressed, e.g. 722 connectivity issues or DishOnline/Sling issues. Maybe Dish no longer wanted to give us a voice.

I enjoyed the release notes, skimpy and delayed though they were. I also enjoyed the lack of ads. ;) But I really wonder what happened. How does FF or Chrome decide when they should check a Google security blacklist? Or was the site itself defaced to put up the security warning? Or was my domain server (Cox) hijacked to send me to DirecTV or some other hostile website owner? I can no longer do any testing here, because DishSupport.com now goes directly to Dish.com.

Yup they are back with PhpBB which is a lot less secure then vBulletin. I also notice they moved the site to the dish.com domain, which could be a huge issue if they have another outbreak as it would blacklist the entire dish.com site. Its always best to put a forum on its own domain just for that reason.

But with that said I have nothing to do with the site anymore so I don't know how they hardened things and made sure things are secure.

Yup its a total new software installed from scratch.

I find it confusing, the legend on the page says people in red are admins... But everyone is listed in red. :)
