Also just got my onetime $50 credit for filling out the form. So far between Turner and Fox I have gotten $125 in credit, it definitely makes it easier to weather these disputes.

I did exactly the same. No response at all. Didn't ask for any credit but certainly would've appreciated one. Been with 'em for 15 years, don't know if I'll make 16......

Happy to report that I received an email today notifying me of the $50 credit. Sent my feedback Sunday (I think?)

Were you a hall monitor in grade school and recent graduate of the Thought Police academy? :biggrin2

As a Chairman, a role model for a large corporation, airing your anger in a public forum is not smart. That's what you do behind closed doors.

Sounds like a viable solution to me. If you can't get your favorite Merlot at your wine store anymore, then you shop around until you find someone that sells it.

Easy peasy.....

So according to you, it is not ok for the Chairman to call out another company for doing what they are doing, but it is ok for the other company to not only keep on doing it, but openly admit to doing it and encourage you to not work with the company they are TRYING to negotiate with?
Were your parents one of the ones that drank the koolaid?

Read the third paragraph about how he (Tim Carry, of FNC) came up with that number...and later on when he said "I think......
ONLY Dish knows for sure.

I was going to say the same thing.
"Carry, executive vice president of distribution for FNC and FBN, estimated that Dish has lost some 90,000 subscribers since the channels were removed from the provider's 14 million subscribers late on Dec. 20. He based the total on the number of viewers that have reached out to the www.keepfoxnews.com website and 888-numbers, and others that have contacted Dish directly."

How does he know how many have "contacted Dish directly.".

I would bet that Dish has lost a lot of subs already with more leaving every day. I base this on the fact that we're a very small dealer and have lost several that we know of because they were still under contract. God knows how many have left that we don't know about yet.

Fox is also losing a lot of viewers and valuable ratings points on their shows which has got to be hurting them too, and will hurt them more in the future if they have to lower their ad rates.

I hope this ends very, very soon.

Can one of the "insiders" at Dish tell me how much it costs to acquire and install a new customer for Dish? I am including all advertising costs, promotions, commissions, installed equipment and labor costs. I have heard numbers up to and above $800, but would like to hear what others estimate it to be. $800 times 90,000 is $54 million, but not saying that is the final number.

If the Fox blackout was costing Dish significantly more than they had projected, they would have come back and made a deal already. Dish knew they would lose subs, the question is if it is more than expected.

Multichannel news is reporting that Dish has lost 90,000 subscribers since the Fox News contract expired. If they have lost 90,000 plus we have been given these credits, at some point this has to be hurting Dish.
No numbers have been announced onlyv number could be from the Fox website of people who commented they cancelled And chances are good many of them have not been did Dish customers.

At CES I heard that their cancellation numbers have not been anywhere which they expected and that there was a lot more talk then action from Fox news viewers.

He doesn't. He's playing the public perception game. Mutlichannel News should have more accurately structured the headline.

If the numbers were all that low, Dish would have released them to strengthen their negotiating position with Fox.

14 million subscribers. An educated guess tells me between 0.5 percent to 1.0 percent cancelled. That would be 70,000 to 140,000.

Probably another 20+ percent of Dish Subscribers called in and got service credits.

I love Dish. We work, eat and sleep Dish, but I don't buy that they're not losing a lot of subs. If they are the last thing they'll do is admit it which would weaken their bargaining position. Remember Charlie is a gambler and knows how to bluff. We won't really know until the numbers are released for Q4 2014 and Q1 2015, which is gonna be a long time from now.

I'm worried because it seems that Charlie and Rupert are personally involved and I don't want to wait and see who's less stubborn.
