With Dish's recent announcement of gaining 10,000,000 subscribers since March of 1996, I thought it would be interesting to see how long some of us have been with Dish Network.

I signed on in August of 1997 with a Dish 300 and receiver models 3000 and 4000. I upgraded to the Dish 500 when that was available. In the last 1 1/2 years I have upgraded equipment; going through two 6000, one 510 and now I have just a, 811, 721 and 301 on my account.

Signed up May 2000. The apartment complex I moved into had a Dish300 on the roof. Got a 3000 receiver. rented it for 6.95 a month
Moved out in September and took the receiver to the lake house, which had a Dish500 and one receiver. Lake house burned to the ground in October. Dish had cancelled the account.
Moved into a different apartment in November. had to use the "dish in a bucket" technique. Used a 4000 receiver I got off Ebay (since I was a customer)
Kept that until Feb 02 when I moved into a townhouse that didnt allow dishes (no balcony)...cancelled account
Moved into my house Nov 02..used 2 DP301's
Have used the following receiver setup in the last year and a half
-2 DP301's
-301 and a 5000
-just a 5000
-back to the 301 (when the 5K died)
-now a 508.

I've been with Dish Network for a little over a year and I have a 301, 501, and a 721. Unlike a lot of subscribers I really am basically happy with my service.

Thanks for all of the help guys and gals
Bob

I started Dec 1998, dish 300 with a model 4000, self install, have added model 6000 and dish 500 with a second dish for local extras.
Overall opinion, satisfactory.

About January of '97.

Bought a mod 4000 for about $200. Replaced with an 811 this past December.

I don't remember exactly, so I will guess since about winter of 1996. We were subscribers for a while in California before moving to Florida in the fall of '97 and brought the dish and 2200/2300 (again I don't remember exactly, but one had a UHF remote and one an IR remote) boxes with us.

Things have sure changed...mostly for the better. :)

Had C-Band for almost as long as i can remember (I'm 16), got dish in 2001 to recieve Arabic channels on 61.5. I used a Dish 300 with a 4700 reciever i got from my dad's friend and did a self install. I canceled in december of that year because my mom didn't want the package anymore (we had FTA for a whole bunch of arab channels on Telstar (now Intelsat Americas 5). My 4700 got fried during a storm in that period so I finished that subscription off with a JVC 3500. The system laid dormant until June 2004 when summer started. We had previously only have Nickelodeon subscribed on the C-Band for my little sister and having the 2nd TV hooked up to the C-Band would've been too complicated because my parents use the C-Band more than we do. I got out the 3500, moved the Dish 300 to 119 and subscribe to AT60 Plus with Multisport this month. When I found out the hard way that MLS games are included in blackout regulations (even though we don't have a local team in Michigan), I downgraded to AT60. Here I am, waiting for my new reciever to come (Dish 301 or 311, not sure off the top of my head) so I can upgrade to a superdish for locals.

Signed up in April 1997 as soon as the law was passed so the HOA couldn't take me to court with a 4000 and dish 300. Added 61.5 dish when DC locals went up. Upgraded to Dish 500 when it came out. Currently have 501, 508 and 811. The only special I recieved was a dishmover and the 811 promo, otherwise I paid the big bucks to get the new receivers when they were available.

Been with them since Jan. 1997. I had the dish 300 with a model 3000 receiver. Later that year I got a 1000 receiver for the bedroom. I got the Dish 500 in early 2000. I now have a 501, 4900, 1000, and that 3000. The 1000 & 3000 are still in the closet collecting dust.

First activated a model 2000 in Nov 1996.

Since then, models 7100, 7200, 501, 721 and 510 (in that order). 721 and 510 are the active units now.

Signed up Feb. 1999. Dish 300, 4700 and 2700 receivers. Had to commit to 1 yr HBO/Showtime but equipment was free + $50 in my pocket. Self Installed.
Free Dish 500 upgrade. Self installed.
Traded 2700 to Dish Depot for 501. $225(?) after trade-in.
508 promotional $149
Sold 4700 for $70.
811 promotional $149. Dish installed. Upgraded my LNBF's to DishPro and Upgraded my switch to DP-34 for N/C. Used my original Dish 300 for 148 sat.

I activated dish Dec. 24, 1996 at 2:55 pm - just before the Pope celebrated midnight mass, yet. I got mine with a year's worth of the old AT40. I'm now AT180 with locals, supers, distants, HBO and Showtime.

My original Dish 4000 died a couple of months ago, so now I'm on a 301 which I shuttle between home and Orcas Island, just a ferry ride away. I want a 721 BAD!

My only problem: figuring out the house wiring so I can send the output of my receiver to every wired room in the house. Damn cable idiots. Can't they put a splitter where one can get to it?

Late February 2002 for me with the 500 system. I love having every regional sports network in the country, most Wednesday nights, I have up to 10 baseball games to chose from and don't have to worry about Big 12 football being pre-empted by hockey on Fox Sports Chicago :)

I joined Dish in Early 1997. I had a 4000 and a 3000. I bought the 7100 pretty much when it first came out and enjoyed it but replaced it with a 508 about a year ago. Today I got a call that my 921 is on the way so I will just have a 921 and 508 active. I sub to AEP and locals. I guess I will be adding the HD pack

I originally joined dish in September of 1997 with a model 3000. Had it till September 1999 when I was sent over seas. Came back in September 2001 and with all the hardware issues went with D*.

My wife and I were staying with her parents in December of 1996 during college Christmas break. We got them dish for Christmas and had the AT100 package with all of the movie channels. Single dish with dual output LNB, and two receivers. One was a 2700 and the other I think was a 3700 (i know it was the same as the 2700 but with UHF remotes and it displayed the music captions on the music channel). These receivers were in service until last year when lightning hit the OTA antenna and fried them both. Now they have Dish 500 with two 301's. We got dish with our first home in 2001. Dish 500 with legacy LNB's (two sinle LNB's) with a SW21 switch for a 301.
New house went up last year with Dish 500 with twin DP LNB and a dish 300 with a dual output DP LNB at 61.5. DP34 running two 301's and an 811.
