Dish Trying to Buy LightSquared For $2.22 Billion

No spectrum is totally "useless". Depending on the equipment being used, the spectrum can still be used. Now $2.22 billion is a whole other discussion.

Everything seems to be moving too slowly. Aren't they under a deadline to start using, or lose, spectrum?

There's more to this. Yesterday's WSJ says that Charlie formed a dummy company, SP Special Opportunities LLC, and purchased more than $1B of LightSquared bank debt, lots estimated at 50 to 60 cents on the dollar. If the sale goes thru $1.7B will be used to pay off LightSquared's bank debt. Guess who wins big?
