Just to clarify, it says this:The bigger picture here is this. With this statement, I don't expect any new HD today. Seems like if they were launching new stations, soem new offerings would probably be mentioned..
Just to clarify, it says this:
"....increase its national HD channel count from 76 to 100 in 2008."
So long as they launch them by December 2008, they didn't lie.
By the way, is it necessary to quote the entire first post twice for your short responses ?
Just like D*, E* counts the HD RSN's in the total HD count. The difference is that D* has put most of their HD RSN's on CONUS (at least for now) rather than spotbeams like E*.No mention of any HD RSNs either, unless they count RSNs in their 76 & 100 numbers.
So much for quality in picture. I wish my eyes weren't 20/20 because there is nothing better on the market than Dish Network's 622/722. Sorry Charlie, but your visually enabled customers can't take yet another year of DishHD-Lite...."We at DISH Network will continue to not only be a leader in the number of HD channels, but also in quality in value."
"The addition of new HD national and local channels is a testament to DISH Network's unwavering focus on providing the best HD offerings," said Eric Sahl, senior vice president of Programming for DISH Network. "We at DISH Network will continue to not only be a leader in the number of HD channels, but also in quality in value."
Yup... and Buffalo is NOT one of these markets. I'm currectly moved to NYC to get locals in HD. To do this 61.5 is going spotbeam and i'll now be LOSING HD.

By what standard do they think they are the leader in HD? They're currently behind the curve on channel count, behind the curve on HD LIL's, quality is subjective so I won't argue that point yet, and they cost more than their direct competitor so value is a wash.
The 4 CONUS TPs that are being used for Boston, NYC, Phila and DC locals from 61.5 are too valuable. You can count on them going to spots. There is absolutely no need for them to remain CONUS since E* is forbidden (at least for now) from delivering DNS.Where can I find the information that NY, on 61.5 ,is going to spotbeam?
I have not heard anything other than speculation that NY would leave CONUS.
If that happens New York will loose 50% of its current "residents".
Sorry about that. E* blacks out all out of market games to simulate spotbeams then. Also, this may change when the spots on 61.5 are lit and Ciel-2 is in place at 129.There are no HD RSNs on spotbeams. Some are at 61.5 and some are at 129. This might be considered somewhat the same as being on spotbeam, though.
I am *very* happy that they made this press release. I'm glad to know that Cleveland locals are in their plans for this year!!!

WTF? They had Tulsa on their list a long time ago...then removed it...now it doesn't even make this round of rollouts?
D* has had Tulsa Locals for a while in HD. I've been a Dish customer for over ten years but I am now getting tempted to switch. Thank god my antenna I installed in the attic is getting me all my channels for now.
