Dish to bid for T-Mobile/Sprint assets

But not like the old days...it doesn't make financial sense to invest in a shrinking market..such as phone use...better to go with something expanding

Well, that is certainly what they teach in MBA schools. Charlie doesn't always follow those rules though. As I mentioned previously, using the phone/data service as a bridge to get to what he really wants to do might make sense.

If phones are going away, what should we be investing in? VR goggles?

Comcast and Charter already cooperate on their current cellular services, Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum Mobile, although they rely on a deal with Verizon to buy access to their 3G/4G cellular network. Analysts do not believe this arrangement is profitable for either company.

.

Profit is not necessarily the driving issue. It’s creating a more stickier customer.

The rates are fantastic and require an account for internet.

Customers under this plan are going to think twice before jumping ship and switching internet provider

. I said calls are going away...many prefer instant message.text messaging..face timing...or just plain email
And until a device is released that competes or makes it obsolete, that's all that will continue to happen. Unless you know something I don't, what device is on the horizon that will make a cell phone obsolete?

Wrong. I don't know anyone who doesn't make phone calls or plans to stop making them. Even my 15-year-old daughter and my 19-year-old brother make phone calls. You live in a fantasy land.

Millenials and Gen Z hate email, BTW. You need to do some research before you spew this nonsense.

Sure, teens and millenials use Snapchat and Facetime more than voice, but they still use it occasionally. And businesses and contractors and people in the field use voice. Contractors don't facetime their bosses.

All nonsense.

I loved texting...until I stopped using a Blackberry. I've never been able to type nearly as well on a touchscreen. Now I use voice to text more, but generally I just call people if I need to have an actual conversation as opposed to getting a single question answered. Verbal communication is so much more efficient.

25 year old here who prefers calling to texting any day the only reason I have a Facebook is for Messenger because it's the easiest way to video chat family and that's how my best friend messages. but in all seriousness phones are not going anywhere anytime soon and that's even if ever. voice calls are still very much a part of life. for example at my workplace we cannot text our managers we have to give them a voice call or else they will not respond.

Our family texts maybe 60% email 25% talk 15%. So for us I would agree. If I want to contact my daughter for example texting is by far the best chance of a response.. :)
