back untill it stops raining
my signal strength is 98 but when it rains it goes to 30

welcome to the site deeny. do you have directv, dish network, fta. a larger dish always helps, but we need to know what you are using now.

If you lose signal "every time it rains" you may have other problems not related to the dish itself! Light rain or even heavy rain with light cloud cover should not affect your signal all that much. On the other hand I do have times when not a drop of rain falls and I lose signal due to very heavy cloud cover.

So is it really "every time"? Or is it in heavy cloud cover?

If it's in heavy cloud cover (with rain) only, this is normal. Individual 24 inch dishes will help. Remember that water molecules scatter the DBS signal. So in the heaviest cloud-cover nothing helps rain fade. Even the Wyoming uplink center with their dishes that measure over 10 feet accross are affected at times.

If it's REALLY "every time" it rains, then you need to check your cable connections and LNB to make sure they aren't leaking. These connections need to be water tight.

Make sure the pole or mast that your dish is on is secure. It could be that when you have bad weather the wind is moving the dish. It doesn't take much movement to knock a dish out of whack. Like others have said, make sure you don't have any leaks coming in on the coax. Also, make sure there isn't any limbs in the line of sight. By having a 98 signal in good weather makes me think there isn't any line of sight issues but when it gets bad weather the wind could make nearby limbs that weren't in the way move and block the signal.

I will check to make sure there are no leaks..

My dish is 40 feet high on a flat roof, I have a clear view, I dont even have any trees on my block or behind my home.

thanks everyone for your help...
