Dish Remote Access Not Playing Nice With Firefox

I just logged on to my account using Firefox. I clicked Dish Remote Access and after about 30 or 45 seconds Firefox said Done but there was a blank screen. I tried a couple of more times then cleared my cache and tried again. Nada. Closed FF, opened IE, logged on, clicked DRA and it popped right up. All 3 receivers indicated on line, # of timers, recordings, etc were correct. Hmmmm. Tried FF again and the DRA page came up. However, my 922, while showing the correct number of Recordings did not show the Timers. Closed out and tried a couple of more times with the same result. The two 622s did show all the correct information in both browsers.

Dish Remote Access is "iffy" at best for me, regardless of browser. It has become particularly unstable in the last week or two. Dish still has some work to do here, IMHO.

When DISH Remote went online I used Firefox and all work very well. Amazing well. BUT the latest version(s) of Firefox are junk. I get the "Done" thing all the time, with various sites, not just DISH. I am sorry that you are having problems, but I am glad to see that it is not me alone and that it is not something I have or am doing. AND then there is DISH's new site. I have to use different passwords for different areas and it seems to change around. I have had DISH reset my password and it still doesn't work. When I got the eMails months ago that I would have to update my password and the lot, I logged in successfully, but it would not allow me to do the update that I was told I had to. DISH had no answer as to why it would not let me. So I slid for as long as I could.

I just tried to use DISH Remote and it will not allow me to log in. I have asked for my PW to be send to me and it accepted my eMail address. But no eMail from DISH yet.

So it could be either or both that could be causing the issue. I would say both.

Still no reply from DISH.

I'll try D.R. as soon as I can get in. I have 5 revs and a preview of Firefox. We'll see what happens.

UPDATE:
Right after I tried a PW that I have never used with DISH I got in and the reset eMail arrived. I did not reset the PW but tried DR and it works as it did when I first tried it. Partially. I used FF 3.6.4 and 3.6.3. I think the current release is 3.6.3. I was able to move through it and start programs on my 722, but could not "skip" in the "conflict" area. I'd get a "hand" cursor and when I click nothing happens. BUT the conflicts are ridiculous and not showing on the DVR itself. Also the drop down buttons, I hate those, are very wonky. No elapse time counter action either. I went on a limb and tried Safari 5.0 and although it was fast, I got the same interaction reaction from the website.

I'd say, it's definitely the DISH Remote site that is the issue.

And some of us have 3.6.3 and have problems. Do us a favor. Next time you log on to DRA, have someone take a photo of your face and post it so we can see how you hold your mouth. ;)

WTF is ur problem? I didn't attack u. I was just trying to be helpful. No one in his thread had posted that 3.6.3 was working for them. Go buy some Midol or something dang........

I did not think you attacked me. I did not say anything about you attacking me. Have you never heard the expression "not holding your mouth right"? Did you not make the connection that if you are not having problems while I and others are that maybe we aren't holding our mouth right and you are? Did you not see the smilie? Do you not know that the smilie indicates humor?

Sorry, i thought u were asking for a blowie or something, ;)

Peppering, eh? Just which acronym or abbreviation is confusing you?
It isn't that I'm still confused, I just had to spend more time than should have been demanded (by someone asking for help) figuring out what you meant by "FF", "3.6.3" and "DRA".

In my OP I used the full name Dish Remote Access prior to using DRA. I was taught many years ago that use of acronyms and initials for a long term or name was acceptable after the first instance of using the full name or term. And I used Firefox prior to using FF. I did not use the full name Internet Explorer prior to using IE. I have for years understood that when anyone posts about browsers FF meant Firefox and IE means Internet Explorer. I used 3.6.3 in a reply to another poster who used FF 3.63 which I knew to be Firefox Version 3.6.3 and which you seem to have overlooked.

I was not "demanding" anyone's time asking for help. I was making a statement about what I was experiencing to see if anyone had similar experiences. I doubt very seriously if anyone on this forum can help because it is a Dish/Sling website issue that others are experiencing.

I upgraded to firefox 3.6.4 this morning. Had the "black" screen when using DRA. Then I cleared the browser cache and the video appeared.

Good Luck.

My FF is 3.6.4 also. And I was able to connect and watch a couple of times earlier this morning. Tried just now and got the Done with a blank page. That is on dish7.sling.com. I am convinced the problem is on either Dish's or Sling's server. Frustrating to say the least.

When I was learning technical writing, it was considered acceptable to do such things but you were expected to create a "henceforth" by putting the initials in parentheses immediately following the full reference.
APA Style Guide Section 3.21 said:
Abbreviations/Acronyms (section 3.21)

Introduce an abbreviation or acronym only if you will use it four or more times in the document. The first time you use item to be abbreviated, place the acronym after it in parentheses:

§ membership in the National Education Association (NEA)

Once you have explained the acronym the first time, use it throughout the rest of the document, without explanation.

There are several exceptions to this rule:

§ Do not use acronyms in a table or figure.

§ Do not use “U.S.” as an abbreviation of “United States,” unless it is being used as an adjective. For example, “U.S. Senate” is correct, while “resident of the U.S.” is not.

Whether asking or demanding, it is best to use established references and terminology so that nobody has to go to lengths to figure out what you're trying to say.

Mine's working running Firefox 3.6.4 It DID prompt me to load a new extension though.

However, my iPhone access is NOT working, and that's what I really want! :(
