Dish Remote Access Android App Help

I am having trouble getting my receiver (vip722k) to show up in the app most of the time. I get a "in order to access your receiver needs to be connected to your broadband network" message in the app.
If I am at home, I can go to through the System Setup, Installation, Broadband Setup, then reset the connection--although it shows it is connected online--then it allows me to see my dvr in the app. If I am at work, not much I can do other than use the internet on my cell phone to record something, since my work's firewall blocks any website that is sling related.
I'm wondering if there is a setting in my router that is dropping the connection or if it is timing out? I am using a "homeplug" the installer gave me which seems to work fine (shows it is connected and I have been able to download some shows using broadband before). Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Anthony i'm having the same problem with my Motorola Cliq Xt droid phone. It used to work with wi-fi and 3g but only now owrks with wi-fi. I'm with T-mobile. My girlfriend can access my Sling Adapter on her I phone by way of 3g. I went today to T-Mobile and they tried it on one of their phones and they got the response as I do. that response is the same as Barco13 gets. I've removed and reinstalled the app multiple times. I've shut down and restarted the phone with no help. I'll pm you my 722k serial number and perhaps you can help me too.

Checked into this for you. I am afraid it may be something with the capability of the phone. I personally have Droid by Motorola, platform 2.2.1. I have no problems at all. My concern is that, based on the little bit of research I have done, the software may be available in the market for your phone, but your phone is not necessarily capable of running it 100%. I have checked and at this point the actual service for DRA is operating very well via dishnetwork.com, which means the issue lies in the phones and their capability/compatibility with the software. Droid is a great platform, but unfortunately all the phones that run it are not created equally. Your platform looks to be Android 1.5, which I believe in the old market place was not listed as fully compatible with the software. When I originally downloaded the app to my phone, it listed Android 2.1 or higher I believe. Did T-Mobile have a Droid with 2.1 or 2.2?
 
Thanks. You are correct in that I don't version 2.2 or latter but the earlier version you mentioned. I don't know which phone the csr tried today at T-Mobile to see if it's me or not. My next question is why did it work previously when I first purchased the adapter and now it no longer works? Does this just mean that it might work with my version of the Droid software and sometimes not? It had been working 3g consistently until just a few weeks ago too. I know I didn't buy the phone when when I purchased the sling adapter but had I known the phone I purchased was an out of date unit i'd have purchased a different phone. I now have a commitment with T-Mobile for this phone for the next 1.5 years. I believe it would cost lots to purchase a replacement phone with out a phone company discount.
 
Sorry about the first post, it was the first thing I would consider in this, but you are correct. You mentioned it works intermittently. I have just received word from another T-mobile customer with a G2 (Droid 2.2 OS) and they cannot connect either (showing receiver not connected). We also tried one of my colleagues MyTouch from T-Mobile, downloaded the app. It allowed me to go as far as the "grid" (program listings) but told me my receiver was not connected (which it is) as the website and my personal Droid by Motorola both confirm (side note: Verizon). You mentioned it working in WIFI, which to me means that it is possible the 3G network is undergoing changes due to the 4G implementation? I wonder if that could be affecting this at all? Maybe you should check with T-Mobile regarding updates to the phone itself as far as its network. My phone (although it is Verizon) has to take periodical updates to make sure it can talk to new network software (in my case I dial a number and it updates it like that). Update: From researching how to update the phone for network, it looks like its plugging into the computer and going to T-mobile or ATT support website. Verizon calls it a feature update and on my phone dialing *384 does the trick. Is anyone aware of how to do it via ATT or T-Mobile?

There is a sub menu of my phone that checks for updates. I can see if there are any. I'd say about the first three to four weeks of having my sling adapter my phone worked 3g. since then it'll only connect to the sling adapter by way of wi-fi. When you try watching something from the phone after picking it starts the process as it goes from "locating" to "connecting" then it comes back with the message of the phone or the adapter npot being connected to the internet. While in the wi-fi mode it goes from "starting" right into "optimizing" showing a percentage and with in seconds the program source. So,etimes turing on the app for the first time I get the screen saying i'm not connected to the internet but not always.

The other flaw i've always had no matter how i receive it is. If I want to change from live programming to dvr or back I have to shut down the program and make sure i'm logged in new for the program to change. I can save my username and password just have to back out of the program and have reinitiate.

I've questioned their 3g network (not to them) being the problem for I know the test model wasn't the same as mine though i don't know what model it was. It's just hard to imagine an entire mobile phone company being the problem.

I am not sure it is the network per se, but I would definitely ask if some network update was required on your phone in the their switch from 3G to 4G. I think it is legitimate that after they updated to 4G there may have been a string of software updates leading to this and your phone may not have automatically taken them. The firmware update I think you are referring to (on your phone) is slightly different, as I think that just updates the OS and maybe installed apps. According to the T-Mobile website, there is a long string of things needed to update the phone, including connecting to PC. Granted, they may have other methods but point the finger that way on their website.
 
I just downloaded the Dish Remote Access App for my Galaxy Tab, and it logs in successfully, but whenever I try to WATCH something it gives me the YOU ARE NOT CONNECTED screen, but I am connected and have an IP address setup. Anyone know if there is a router port I need to open for it? I have reset the broadband connection to the 622, and nothing changes. I know that for the slingbox I had to open a port, do I have to do that for Dish Remote Access? Anyone know?

I can log on both with my slingbox app but just curious why I can't with the HD pro. I use to could until the 921 came out and it's like they block the pro since it's a 722 and not a 921. No big deal but just curious. It's really not an issue as I can long on the slingbox pro HD through slingmedia app in about 30 seconds. Thanks,

You are trying to use the free DRA app, which to my knowledge only works with the Sling Adapter and is not compatible with a 622. The Sling app is the only thing that will allow to view TV from your SlingBox and it is $30.

Could you clarify this a little bit? You say you can log on to both with your SlingBox app, and then say you can't with the HD Pro. I would love to help, but the question seems contradictory.

But it looks like I can use the Dish Remote Access app to set a recording; that worked; and now when I tell it to watch it, it goes to a slingbox login, I give it my PWD, but then it hangs on the connecting screen.

Not a big deal, as I have a Sling HD Pro, but I was hoping that the new android app, which is supposed optimized for tablets, would "sling" at a higher quality than the "phone" app does on the tablet.

YEAH, I was having a MORON MOMENT. Sorry. I just saw that. DOH! :) It does work to control my dvr timers though. Too bad it won't work with the slingbox I have. Or better yet - too bad Dish doesn't upgrade that app to optimize it for the Galaxy Tab. :)
 
I'm not sure if the dish guy was actually answering my question but here is what my intentions were. I have a sling av solo and a slingbox pro HD. both are hooked up to two different tv's with the pro hd on a hd tv with a 722K. I added the slingmedial app when I purchased my droid x about a month ago and can long on to either tv in about 30 seconds so I really don't have a problem. The question is when I log onto the dish network site and go to dish remote access, I can log onto the tv hooked to the sling av solo but I cannot get it to let me watch on the pro HD sling unit hooked to the HD tv. I understand what the reasoning is with the sling adapter or something like that and don't really need it since the slingmedia works fine. I also understand that Dish is obviously wanting everyone to purchase a 921 with sling included but I don't really it for obvious reasons. My question is why can the solo sling work but the hd pro doesn't with the sling adapter. That's pretty much it. Thanks for listening.
