Dish Programming Changes (Effective August 1st)

Cloudy...it should just come out that way in your bill. When you look at that page, it will always show you the full prices for each individual item, but that doesn't mean it goes on your bill that way. Look at your premiums...they show $15.99 for HBO and $11.99 for each of the others.

With AEP, there should be no change in your price by doing this. With some package combos, the price can go up $1 to $5 or so, but that shouldn't be the case for you.

In my case, I saved the $10 I was paying for Platinum, but lost a discount that drove things up a buck, so I really only saved $9.

Is there anything I can do to lower my bill? I have 2 HD DVD rec and 1 non DVR HD receiver.

DishDVR Advantage Classic Silver 200 - You
Saved $0.98!
57.99
DishDVR Advantage - Adjustment -10.00
4 Premium Package 40.00
Multi Sport 5.99
DISH Home Protection Plan (DHPP) 5.99
Duo Receiver - (You Saved $5 With DishDVR
Advantage!)
0.00
HD Solo Receiver 7.00
DVR Receiver 12.00

Drop the DHPP and add it if you ever have a problem $6/month. Drop the 4 premium package $40/month and use Netflix or Redbox for movies.

Surprised you don't have the HD add on listed there with that programming and the HD receiver and the HDTV's. Maybe it's hidden.

I'm sorry, but I don't have time to read 86 pages.
If you change the settings on your account, you can view more posts per page - and cut down the pages at least to 9. :D

You could always go online and chat for 5 minutes with a CSR if you are concerned about not having enough time. Glad you got it fixed...

I am also getting $3 off the Sports Package, dunno how that happened either. I am supposed to be getting Cinemax for a penny for a year, but that may be expired.

Thank god I am no longer under contract with these people. I have never met a company that requires you to have a Masters degree in packaging. I am an intelligent person, but if it takes me more than 10 minutes to figure out a packaging deal, what it includes, and how it will change my bill, I don't want it.

I really dislike the other options I have TW/DTV, but dish is pushing me away. I want something I can understand & I don't want 3 different box usage fees (that's just silly) ( I have 2 622's & 1 211)

I helped a couple of friends do this after I changed my programming online and it worked fine in each case.

Best way to change to HD & Platinum programming for EXISTING customers:

1. Sign into your online account and click on “Programming” link on the left side of the page.
2. Under HD Programming options uncheck all of your current HD package(s).
3. Click “Review and Order” at the bottom of the page. (Verify all HD Package(s) were removed)
4. Click on the red “Back” button at the bottom of the page. You should see the “HD & Platinum” option.
5. Click on HD & Platinum for $10.
6. Click on “Review and Order” button. (Verify combined “HD & Platinum” package was added.)
7. Click on “Order” button. You should see the Platinum HD channels on your screen in 5-15 minutes.

I did exactly this earlier this month. Some other changes were also made.

I had:
DishDVR Advantage Classic Silver 200
Classic Gold 250 (add on)
GoldHD
PlatinumHD

I now have:
Classic Gold 250 With DVR
HD & Platinum

There was no net price change. While speaking to a billing specialist, I found out that next month there is going to be a $10 Additional Receiver fee. I looks like this was a side effect of making the above change. I was able to to get the change removed (they said a "code" that was removed from the VIP722).

So you may want to watch your statement for things like this for the next couple of months.

So they are adding another arbitrary monthly charge? They lock us into term contracts, yet we cannot exit without penalty when they hit us with new "fees"? What a rotten company. I think this borders on illegal business practices if I am reading this correctly. I may yet dump them, contract or not.

Since when is the additional receiver fee $10? Scott can you confirm that this fee has changed? Or is this "billing specialist" just uninformed?
