When it was originally installed last year the tech (under supervisor guidance) used a stud finder and it's bolted solidly into the fascia; it's solid and goes nowhere.
FYI, the HOA has no legal standing to prevent you from installing an OTA antenna. They may think they do, but the FCC says otherwise. Oh I've always understood that but it's easy to say "you can have an antenna" in an internet forum when in real life you have neighbors and HOA management that stick their noses into everything, watch everybody 24/7 and can make your life miserable. I've gone to meetings and have never seen such a bunch of petty, childish and vengeful people in my life; middle schoolers have better manners. When it comes to anything I do to my house I try to "fly under the radar" so no eyebrows are raised.
I know the bolded is correct. After I dropped my locals, I tried to go to Fox.com to watch Family Guy (had gotten preempted by weather the night before) and when it asked me for my MVPD login, it said I wasn't subscribed and couldn't watch the content.
Yes, any guide data you have with the Dish locals you'll still get on OTA after dropping them. I get a few subchannel guides of channels that dish does not even carry, but not many.

It depends on the individual main channel, I think. For instance, my local NBC has two subchannels, antenna tv and justice network. Antennatv has guide data even though dish doesn't carry it, justice does not. Fox has metv and h&I. Metv has data, h&I does not. None of my CBS subchannels have data, and all but one of my PBS channels have data.
