Scott, is the current HD PPV/VOD even full 1920x1080i? I won't even mention the (not even 440? Kbps DD) sound not approaching Blu-Ray.

I seriously doubt if they are going to allocate 48 Mbps to a stream. To get HD DVD video quality (not mentioning the sound), they would need to stream at least 22-25 Mbps.

They don't have to do the transfer in real time if its VOD. It could be 8 Mbps over 2 days.
 
My first version Apple TV got a firmware update which enabled 1080p output, it previously only did up to 1080i. Here's hoping Dish will do the same to our 622/722s. I have two big screen 1080p sets and would love to match the DVRs to my set's native resolution.
