Really before anyone should fault any of the parties involved in all of this the agreements should be released. The 'undisclosed amount' phrase kinda tells me that Indemand accepted a smaller baseball channel percentage than DirecTV in exchange for something else. If this is the case then while most people see the dollar signs, MLB sees the channel as a long term asset that is at least as important and very profitable.

Bottom line is that if your main reason for watching tv is sports, then u need to go to D****, if you are into quality HD and varity of programming then E**** is the ticket! Thats just the way it is. I didn't get my Nascar Incar with E****, but I'm still here, better HD is what keeps me with E***. If that go's away then so do I. I don't have time to watch all the sports games anyway so ill watch them when there on the National local's or whenever they show on ESPN! 
So since this already exists I assume you plan to sue MLB for mlb.tv which is the exclusive "WEB Extra Innings all year ticket / experience"?
I think you should also sue NBC for having the exclusive on Heroes. I'd much rather watch Heroes on ABC.
Though I am extremely disappointed that the outlook of Dish carrying EI is bleak I will miss having the oppurtunity to watch whatever game I want. There seems to be quite a few people out there that, in the opinion of one, doestn't give a rats ass about EI but they are very upset that all the RSNs aren't in HD or someone is upset that Dish doesn't want to carry YES or MASN. These are channels I don't care about or want to subsidize. So you can see everyone has their priority and maybe if all helped each other get what they want things might be different. I will get Direct just for the MLBEI and keep my Dish for this year with the hope that Direct will come through with their promises and quality will improve. I then will probably leave Dish, after 11 years, and move on to Direct. I live in a very rural area so satellite is my only option.. Everyone should have stuck up for each other and not made comments on this forum that it was worthless. Do you not think Dish doesn't monitor this board? People were crying about losing their distance channels, blackouts with hockey and such. Large companies want to see deversity among groups so they can take you down. Like I said I will miss EI on Dish but there are options.

MLB and Echostar both are still saying that they are negotiating. Just because Dish is crying poverty doesn't ignore the fact that this new MLB channel along with MLB Extra Innings is still a very high profile contract.
What if MLB decides to put a package of weekly telecasts on this new channel and makes it exclusive so that the teams' rightsholders cannot carry the game?
Dish Network eventually broke down and got Extra Innings, I don't think they want to lose it without a fight.
Plus, Echostar with an equity stake in this new MLB channel helps them keep costs under control. If the channel prospers, Dish gets profits too.....if Dish has a bigger share per customer than the others....then wouldn't Dish make a larger profit per sub on the channel than the others? This is assuming that DirecTV, Dish, and InDemand are all going into this deal as equals.

I guess i just get so sick and tired of all this crap by E*. I mean turning off channels and always negotiating. How much cheaper are we really then D*? My bill goes up ever year! I am also really tired of all the fee's. If you want to be the leader and be the best do it. E* makes money not by saying no to sports. Its by havening alot of Ethnic channels which are also overpriced. Oh yea and feeing us to death does not hurt either.

I believe they were also first, before Comcast and DirecTV, to buy the Jazz Extra package from FSN Utah.
Dish Network also carried SportsTime Ohio fully while DirecTV only has it in certain areas.
Dish Network was also very quick to snap up SportsNet New York and Altitude Sports & Entertainment.
So I think Dish gets a worse rap because of some higher profile issues in the past, but as of late they seem to be more in tune with getting what we want on quicker.

It is worth it regardless if you are a out of market fan, but the point I was trying to make is that many of us cannot cough it up, er, convince our wife that it is worth it.

the comparisions are harder to make now since the packages do not line up as neatly as they once did. But at this point I am not sure that they are cheaper.
Just a basic observation here. When E* starts bleeding customers to d* channels start popping up (CSTV,NFL etc)..When E* gains on d* Chucks seems to have a devil may care attitude about channel adds.. time will tell
I agree this is my point and we have less channels and always getting them turned on and off.
While that may be true for total subs.. Im talking about Subs who specifically subscribe to MLB EI.
This statement confirms that Dish doesn't really need EI as desperately as Direct TV (painted into the ultimate high-end, rabid sports lovers corner) or cable (still losing customers to satellite). Ergan still leads in adding subs each quarter by focusing on price, value, free SD or HD DVR to new subs, superior DVR when compared to Direct TV braned or cable DVR's, decent upgrade deals, and sufficient customer satisfaction.
Make no mistake, Direct TV is the place to be for wild sports fans who are wealthy enough to afford the exclusive out-of-market game services. Most of us can't afford it, nor have the vacant schedule in our busy lives, plus precious family time, to watch enough games to justify the expense, and that is why this really won't hurt Dish in the long-run.

It's like Xm and Sirius..... I keep hoping ONE provider can give me everything I want, but it just won't work out.
Oh well, it's back to the bad ole' days..... If sports are of paramount importance, go to D*. If you are more a movie geek, then stick with E*.
They had moved away from that attitude with the Extra Innings package over the last few years, but now sadly have gone back. I know it doesn't make sense from a dollars standpoint, but it still hurts.
Hopefully, MLB.TV will eventually start transmitting in HD once larger bandwidth becomes the norm. Until then, I'll have to make do with a 4 inch window on my PC....
