DISH Network(R) Introduces More Affordable Solutions

And to answer your question. No, ordered mine a month ago, they never showed up. Dish charged me for 4 boxes when I only ordered 2 and didn't even apply the government coupons. I spent 2 hours on the phone over the course of this past weekend to get it straightened out and I should get my boxes within 10-14 business days. The whole thing has been one big hassel.

It's almost worth calling to see if I can alter the order...

It's been a big hassel for me also. I ordered the DTV PAL on the first day it was available but I ordered one. The lady who took my order charged me for two and didn't apply the $40 coupon. They did credit me back for the extra box and shipping but Dish CSR's won't budge on the $40 coupon so I sent an email to CEO. I hope they can take care of the problem because I don't have the coupon card any more.

What a mess!

Has anyone heard anything about the TR-50 (like is it available) since they first talked about it last spring?

Jim

Last date of availability I heard was September. Let's hope September 2008.

I got lucky on that front. The person that took my order entered in a note saying coupons redeemed. So they credited that to me even though I no longer had the coupon numbers to give to them. The CSR had to send it to someone higher up for approval of that, but they didn't give me any problems with it. It did take about 45 minutes with a US CSR for me to explain the situation to her understanding. But it got taken care of.

So I guess if you are a current Dish customer you have to call to order one of these?? When I try to order one online it says, "our records indicate you have DIsh service at your address and we can't process your request"....

Yes and it shows up on your monthly bill.

WTF!!!! I called to order one of these, and they claimed $33 for shipping. I explained like 20 times that it said there was a $40 box, and I was not ordering the $59.99 box. clueless...

Edit: I fired off an email to the CEO, because I'm sure that now I probably won't be able to use my gov. coupon either. Hopefully they will either reassure me that I can use my coupon or give me a TR-40CRA. I hate CSRs.

Am I missing something? This is an OTA convertor, not a sat receiver. Why would it need a $9.99 subscription!?!?! Could Dish somehow turn it off OTA if you didn't pay a monthly tax?

Yeah, the $9.99 package is something you could add if you wanted to...There are no fees with this, Dish is just trying to get some more customers by offering cheap packages for people that only have OTA.

A nice guy from the CEO office took care of it for me. We sure are lucky to have a good source of info here and a way to fix problems that can't get resolved the traditional way. I would probably cancel Dish if I was a regular customer because of all the hassles one has to go through to fix simple problems.

Does anyone know if there is a website where you can track your order?

I asked that and they told me that they can't provide that information. They couldn't even tell how it would be shipped. Which helped explain why they had no idea what happened to my shipment (they're shipping two new ones out to me, but this had to be done manually through the sales department). CS said they would not be able to provide me with a tracking number for the new order. I just have a time table and am suppose to call in if the DTVPals don't arrive within that timeframe.

Do you think the tr40 will be available at sears, or online only? I would like to save the high shipping charge .

The news article said they'd also be available at Dish Network retailers. It's worth a shot to call, but if the box is truly in limited supply, distributing it among thousands of stores will make it less likely that any one store has them in stock. With a limited supply item, they should centralize the point of sale. The only thing that might help you find it locally is that most CECB buyers aren't reading Dish news, especially news focused on pay tv pricing.
