Dish Network question

This is completely wrong. Physical location NEVER factors into the calculation.

HokieEngineer is right. Dish had to update their algorithm because the old one was uhh...compromised. The old algorithm was based off Receiver ID, Smart card ID, Date, Time and nothing else. The new one might include switch/LNBF information in its calculation (just idle speculation :) ) but that is a far cry from anything resembling GPS information.

Whoa, actually in a roundabout way, physical location does play a part... TIMEZONE! :) But it doesnt really matter, since all recievers are under one account, thus one address, so they'll all have the same timezone.

Ha, that must suck for stackers across timezones. Their guide is always off! I can just imagine that CSR call :neener

Not just stackers. Subscribers who have moved for programming purposes will fail an audit if their faux relocation crosses a timezone. Probably doesn't apply to many, but still...

Time info comes from your "home address" location

I have StarChoice (Canadian satellite) with a East Coast address. I'm in Minnesota so the time is always an hour ahead :)

Yea, your "home" address timezone is stored on your smartcard. The reciever just parses the program guide based on that data on the smartcard.

I heard that some with an RV waiver was also being told that its now being denied to have one and that they are required to provide all of the information at that very moment. This seems very unfair to me.
