My daughter and her family are having problems with their new Dish installation.
Last saturday she called me saying that her Dish Network was out. It started to
go out last week when we were having rain and progressively got worse.

The installation is only 4 months old. I cam over and watch the guy install
the system. I didn't see him use a meter to aim the dish. I had played
around with the receiver, 722k, a couple weeks ago when I was over watching
my grand-daughters. They are on the eastern arc. I know when I had my system
on the I saw 3 satellites. She only had 2, 61.5 and 77 (I think).

On Tuesday she called me on my way home and I talked her through going to the
"Point Dish" screen and read me the signal strengths. She had about 65 on 77
and only 39 on 61.5. I told her that was way too low.

She had been told by Dish Tech Support to turn her receiver off and then back on
And that should fix the problem. This was before I had her lookup the signal strengths
for me. I told that that was BS.

She said it was working at the time but I told to call Tech Support again and tell them
what we had found. I also told come spring I would re-cable the system and add a 411
receiver in their bedroom.

I thought that there were 3 satellites on the eastern arc, 61.5, 71 and 77 (not too sure of the
last 2). I'll have to get my eastern arc install paper work to look.

BTW I am on the western arc because I have a clearer shot at the 3 satellites there vrs.
the eastern arc.

Many markets now only need the 72.7 and 61.5 on the eastern arc. This is accomplished with a 1000.2 dish and the new eastern arc twin lnbf. That's most likely what is installed. 65 is a good signal reading on the 72.7. 39 on the 61.5 sounds pretty low but it varies depending on transponder.

Of course if its out then there's some kind of problem. I'd start by checking for ice or snow build up in the dish. If its accessable have here spray some water in it to melt any build up.
