DISH NETWORK PRESENTS OWN: OPRAH WINFREY NETWORK

Stop making sense! You are taking away anything the whiners have to complain about concerning Dish airing the channel!
What does this have to do with anything?

Post this in the D* forum, and you will get the same response.
This channel sucks!
A press release??? Com'on!
So lay off the" I'll Protect you Charlie my love"
We know you think this is the greatest addtion charlie could have added.

Charlie didn't add shi*! Discovery Networks took down Discovery Health and put OWN in its place. The only thing Dish had to do is change the channel name. That said, if subs don't know the channel is there, how are they to know that it is available.

I can guarantee you that this channel, amongst the female population, is a lot more desired than most other channels would be. So, yeah, Charlie probably is pretty excited. Us guys making fun of it is kind of like going to a hair salon and listen to women complain about ESPN.

Why should I go post this in the Direct forum, I have no reason to go over there. and yet...hmmm
You may be right, it may completely suck. But I haven't watched it yet, and considering it hasn't been on but 24 hours yet, won't know until I try. But I will sure as hell watch it first before I start saying whether it sucks or not. :up
what about the press release. It announces it is now on Dish. People here bitch all the time because there aren't press releases about channels showing up on Dish and now bitching because they do, big surprise!
I'm not protecting anyone, And Charlie sure doesn't need me to protect him, I'm pretty sure he does fine on his own. Even from the likes of you!
You don't know sh*t about me or what I like or don't like! But your true colors are sure coming out for all to see!

Guys, look around. All this bickering over the Oprah Winfrey Network!!! Looks like she's got more power than we thought ever dreamed of!

The channel does suck. Discovery health was a excellent channel I always watched until I dumped pay tv. I was visiting my friend today who works in the medical field and she was livid over the change. I told her maybe the shows will pop up on TLC.

Discovery Heath was better.

And Just for the record Charlie, Everyone has this channel!

Great, we've been OWN'd. Lol.

Good thing photoshOprah is not in HD.

looks like:
DirecTV offers it in all tiers.
Time Warner Cable offers it on its digital basic tier.
Comcast offers it on it's upper tier.
Dish offers it on it's top 200 tier.

It was Discovery that made the change.

So I looked in the guide at OWN and it seems that every damn show is about Oprah. I was thinking maybe a good movie here and there or some other Oprah opinionated shows, but every damn show is about her. PUKE!!!!!!!

A day after the launch of her ambitious new TV network, the message board on Oprah Winfrey's website was flooded with posts from fans upset that they now have to pay to see the talk show queen.
"Cannot believe Oprah would launch a new show on a cable channel that is not part of the basic service," wrote a fan tagged johnjanesmith.
"She will be losing some of her most loyal fans because they either do not have cable or they have basic cable. I have basic cable and do not plan on changing my cable service.
"Oprah has lost me as I am sure many other people. Too bad that she didn't look into a channel that would serve everyone."
"I am very disappointed that I will not be able to watch Oprah (whom I love)," wrote lvtootsie. "I cannot afford to pay the extra monthly fee."
The vast majority of comments -- nearly 8,000 since last Friday -- on Oprah.com were from fans who welcomed the move and said they loved the new channel.
But there were also scores of comments from fans locked out because they either do not subscribe to cable or cannot afford to upgrade from basic service, which does not include OWN.
OWN launched last Saturday, saying it is available in more than 80 million homes -- but that figure includes the number of customers on all the cable systems carrying the network.

I don't care for the channel but as a 40+ year old male, I am not her target demo. And I bet neither are the people also posting in this thread.

However, my wife, my sister and my mother-in-law all like the channel. So there you go.......

She was boring on network TV, having won that title more than 15 years ago.

She managed to screw up millions of American Housewives, who in turn screwed up countless millions of their children, made everyone hypersensitive to real-life and made billions in the process.

Now she's on Dish Network.

Congrats to the brain-trust who proved, once again, they cannot think.

Just like the pay-per-view and porn channels - another one to block.
I don't disagree, but it is a slight improvement over Jerry Springer and all those Judge (pick a name) shows.

My true colors have been out!

And I know enough about you to know you'll NEVER go against Charlie.

Hemi probably had him take it off since he has been over here making fun of dish for releasing one...
:)
Not a channel to bragg about, But I guess when your about to send out another Press release about another Price increase, you have to say something positive.:p

OH wait, you don't get price increase notice.:neener

OWN has a least spawned some very entertaining threads. I even saw one Dish sub in another forum who claims he is dropping pay tv altogether simply because OWN now exists, and is going OTA only. Nevermind the fact you can simply remove it from your favorites lists (as I have done with many channels I hate even more than OWN). I wonder what he'll do when he discovers Oprah still comes on broadcast television. He'll have to gouge his eyes out.
