I see tabs on the bottom of the new Weather Cast channel screen. Can they be customized to just your location and just at the size of those tabs and not larger? Also on the HD channel! Of course if you want your radar, that needs to be larger but I want to see at least the last few hours of precipitation movement.

BTW.. the tabs I am talking about are just stuck on extended. How do you change that?

Good to see David Neal from Bham, AL on the channel

Does anyone have any contact and ownership info for this channel ?

I'll miss TWC, but not all the crap that comes with it. If I want to see current weather, I turn to TWC and see some sort of movie I can get on one of the other 89 channels that play movies. So far, I like the new channel. Nice full screen HD and great graphics I haven't seen on TWC. A cute blond, too.:up

More than likely the Weather Channel will be back. I bet this is just Charles playing hardball. Kind of like the Lifetime debacle.

I agree, to me it says a lot about dish standing up to these programmers in light of possibly losing a few subs and ticking off a few more.
If it means my bill goes up because Cantore or other execs feel they need a raise, well then it's just 1 channel I can live without.

I like what I see so far. TWC kinda sucks as a source of weather information for me. I hope this is better.

The Interactive bit doesn't seem remarkably different than before which makes me wonder how much TWC had to do with it anyway.

Ted

Oh no.

I just flipped over to this channel and who do I see? Paul Douglas, or as he is known in these parts, the Weather Terrorist.

He used to be the local "goof on the roof" at WCCO before he left to start his own weather media company, but not before striking fear and terror in the minds of all that hung on his every word at 6pm and 10pm. He could make a slight rain sprinkle sound like a Category 5 hurricane.

LOL, I always liked Paul Douglas, I remember him from the old KARE days in twin cities. He is like Dick Clark, he hasn't aged a bit.

I'm glad to see then drop TWC. I want weather, not stories about storms or movies and Al Roker doesn't do a thing for me. I hope that Directv drops them too.

:DLol... dish's twitter feed is in full-on spin over how Weathercast is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

For example:

Did you know?: The Weather Cast (Channel 213) has 1/2 the commercials of TWC & a 100% focus on weather! More info here: DISH Network - The Weather Cast Programming Updates - 1.800.823.4929 44 minutes ago via web

# dishnetwork

Weather Channel uses cable headends to give local wx so SAT subs miss out on local WX. Not anymore w/ The Weather Cast DISH Network - The Weather Cast Programming Updates - 1.800.823.4929

Some serious channel swapping here, back on twc for ch 214

u know..If I was starting my own weather channel and wanted National Publicity......................

According to the twc website:

Despite extended negotiations over the past several months, DISH has chosen to drop The Weather Channel rather than pay us that fair value for the network. Despite what you may hear from DISH, we have worked hard to reach an agreement with DISH and are simply asking them to pay us about a penny a month more for you to continue to receive The Weather Channel.

Who's not telling the truth?

I was never a fan of TWC because of all the other "junk" programming they started showing, much like MTV, CMT, or VH1. Didn't they used to be about the music and not the crappy reality shows? Anyway, WC needs to step up their efforts in the audio department. It sounds like they're inside a cave or something. The wall of flat screens in front of a black curtain is kinda cheesy too. :D

Dish is the one not telling the Truth, they had a history of Program disputes, Viacom, OLN (now Versus), Voom, Lifetime, Ring a bell.

clearly Charlie didn't want to pay what NBC Universal is asking for The Weather Channel. i wonder if this has anything to do with the pending merger of NBC Universal and Comcast.
