NO is the first answer, you need to be aimed at 101 for Directvs basic programming. The DISH Network dish 500 probably has Dish Pro Twin or Dish Pro Plus Twin LNB which is not compatible with Directv. If you want HDTV from Directv you need 103 and 99 satellites which are Ka band not supported by the DISH Network dish.
Second answer YES but only if it is a Basic Directv receiver and a LEGACY single or dual DISH Network LNB with the dish reaimed for 101.
DirecTV does use 110 and 119 for locals and some HD. But, their main SD satellite is at 101.Thanks
I'm not looking to get HDTV just the basic. Don't know why but I thought Direct TV came from 119 and 110.
I am not interested in the locals since I have a very basic cable service I use for the locals.
DirecTV will provide you with the appropriate dish at no cost as a part of a basic instalization. Why would you want to batch up some juryrigged substitute?
