DISH Network Satellite Television Brings Local Channels To Lubbock,
Texas

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 14, 2004--EchoStar
Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: DISH) announced today that its DISH
Network(TM) will offer local TV channels by satellite television to
Lubbock, Texas, and the surrounding area. The following local TV
channels will be available: ABC Ch. 28 (KAMC), CBS Ch. 13 (KLBK), FOX
Ch. 34 (KJTV), NBC Ch. 11 (KCBD), UPN Ch. 22 (KUPT) and PBS Ch. 5
(KTXT).
This is the first time local TV channels are available on
satellite in the Lubbock area, providing an alternative to local cable
TV service. DISH Network, with the lowest all-digital price in
America, now offers local channels as part of its Digital Home
Advantage. Starting at $29.99 per month, this package offers customers
free installation for up to four TVs, with no commitment and no
hardware to buy and includes more than 60 popular TV channels such as
ESPN, Discovery and CNN Headline News, plus local Lubbock TV channels.
Customers can call DISH Network or a local satellite TV retailer
to learn how to get a free multi-satellite dish antenna required to
receive Lubbock-area local channels. DISH Network also provides
digital video recording technologies, high definition TV and more than
90 international channels to the Lubbock area.
"The addition of local channels on DISH Network gives customers in
Lubbock a final reason to choose DISH Network over cable," said Eric
Sahl, vice president of Programming. "Customers in Lubbock now have
more programming and product choices at a better price, with the
ability to watch the news, weather and sports that matter most to
them."
DISH Network offers local channels via satellite to 18 counties in
the Lubbock area: Bailey, Borden, Chochran, Crosby, Dawson, Dickens,
Floyd, Gaines, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Kent, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn,
Motley, Terry and Yoakum counties.
With the addition of Lubbock, DISH Network offers local channels
in 151 markets, including 50 states, Puerto Rico and the District of
Columbia.
For customers who do not subscribe to Digital Home Advantage or
other qualifying programming, local channels will be available at
$5.99 per month.

I wasn't here when they did the install. My wife was here and she didn't even look at it.You know women,if it works why check it out.Should I e-mail E* or call the installer?

Was it setup through a retailer? If so, call the retailer. If they refuse, there is a recourse. If it was installed by DISH, call DISH and tell the CSR of the problem and tell them you want it moved. If the CSR refuses, ask immediately for a supervisor. If the supervisor refuses, there is that aforementioned recourse.

It was setup through SBC which I have dishnetwork through.I believe it was through a retailer who installed it.

Also, in that first pic, those little pieces of scrap wood he used to level the mast are splitting, and won't last more than a year. What a terrible install!
Makes me want to do installations myself!

Whoa! Didn't even notice those. That is a really crappy job. My dish was reinforced with a piece of wood although it appears to be brand new and is not split. You definitely need to complain and get both dishes re-installed.

Do any of you guys know of an e-mail addy I can send them to?I need some results before my house goes up in smoke!!!!

Charlie won't be calling you. Emails sent to that address are handed out to officers in the executive offices.

Be sure and provide your account number. You can provide a phone number too but they will pull it from your account (as they did with me).

Well I emailed them late saturday night.Got a call Sunday afternoon for a Monday a.m. relocate.Someone from Dish called Sunday evening sometime when we were not at home.Left a message that they wanted to come out Sunday night because the install was a hazard and unacceptable.Showed up this morning and relocated it to where I would have put it in the first place.

I can't believe they installed like that. Seems that some common sense would have led the initial installer to place the dish elsewhere... How's the picture quality of the Lubbock locals? I notice they are on 148 so they may not suffer the compression that most locals do.
