The two faces of Dish Network were again on display this week, with the company arguing that online video services are a “superior product” while at the same time airing a new TV commercial that says those consumers who switch to online video services will “miss out” on live local programming, sports, weather and other shows.

During Dish Network’s quarterly conference call with financial analysts and the media earlier this week, company Chairman Charles William Ergen repeatedly touted on-line services — such as his company’s Sling TV. OTA TV is free if the viewer can receive it. That would include local programming. However with the Roku, there are a couple hundred TV stations nationwide that streams their news and local shows for free. Many also have the shows & news on demand. The problem with total cord cutting, too many cable services still require a satellite or cable subscription to view their streaming content. I have a friend that has a small Dish package and since she doesn't receive those basic cable channels through Dish, she cannot directly get the streaming channel. . I find with the Roku, and having Dish, they compliment each other, as I can get many channels free with the Roku and are not even available with Dish, Direct, or Cable.

Much easier ways to get international channels than Kodi, not to mention all the stuff people insist kodi is good for. Kodi and those addons are just for people that don't know any better.

Not to mention the vast majority of 3rd party addons are for illegal streaming of copyrighted material. Europe is cracking down hard, just a matter of time before the US does. Vpn's won't be much good once the whip gets started.

That crackdown would be about as effective as they've been putting torrent sites out of business. In other words, not very.
