DISH Names Tim Messner General Counsel; R. Stanton Dodge to Join DraftKings as Chief Legal Officer

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DISH Network announced today that it has appointed Senior Vice President Tim Messner to the role of General Counsel. Messner succeeds Executive Vice President R. Stanton Dodge, who will be joining DraftKings as its chief legal officer. Messner assumes his role on October 23 and will report to DISH Chairman and CEO Charlie Ergen.

Tim Messner currently serves as Senior Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of DISH, leading a team of more than 20 attorneys responsible for negotiating the company’s commercial transactions.
Since joining DISH in November 1996, Dodge has held positions of increasing responsibility in the legal department. Prior to joining DISH, Dodge was a law clerk to the Hon. Jose D. L. Marquez of the Colorado Court of Appeals. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School in 1995 and his B.S. in accounting from the University of Vermont in 1991.
Dodge will remain on the board of directors for DISH’s sister company, EchoStar Corporation.

Tim Messner joined DISH in 2004 as a junior attorney and has since held positions of increasing responsibility in the legal department. He was a key member of the team involved in EchoStar Corporation’s 2008 spin-off from DISH and has negotiated numerous agreements for the company related to satellite, content, technology and other strategic initiatives.
Tim graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with high honors, and received his B.S. in Accounting, with honors, from the Pennsylvania State University.
