DISH Makes Expansive HBO Content Available On Demand for Home TV Viewers

played around with it briefly last night, talk about a PITA to use. :( I noticed Boardwalk empire starts out with episode 12 which I think is the second episode of season 2?? (I thought they only did 10 for season one) Then there is a separate icon for the HD version and the SD version. So you have to scroll twice as far to find episodes. Why not just select the episode you want and then from there select HD or SD?? Also it looks like all episodes are just thrown in, why not organize by them by season?

I was really hoping that Generation Kill would be one of the series available as I've seen all the episodes but the first 2, guess I'll just have to go watch on my computer and HBOgo

All episodes of Boardwalk Empire are there. You just have to navigate the cumbersome interface to find the episodes from Season 1.

The same is true of every other series.

This is not really an expansion by Dish. They just opened up their interface to include anything that is available on HBO GO because that is part of the HBO GO contract.

After doing that, they saw an opportunity to market the "new content" and made it part of their announcements at CES so it would appear to be a really big deal. In reality, the "new content" was there for a couple of weeks prior to CES and all they did was announce the availability to the public.

Yes, it is a pain to use the interface but if you look around long enough, you can find anything that is available on HBO GO.

NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT SUBSCRIBE TO HBO as part of your Dish contract, YOU WILL NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THE CONTENT - that is also part of the contract between Dish and HBO.

Where? I did a search on the Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire and that shows the same results as doing a search via Network. Boardwalk Empire shows 20 or 22 results... but that is SD and HD of Season Two, not 20 or 22 individual episodes.

Could you post a screen shot showing multiple seasons of The Sopranos? Because on my end, I'm seeing nothing additional that hasn't been available for a while.

That statement makes absolutely no sense. How can they "just" open up the interface for anything available on HBO GO. HBO GO has a mindnumbing amount of material available. If they did that, that would indeed be very expansive!

And the alleged DVR commercial can't be what the press release was about because the press release was about HBO and Cinemax, so hopefully these two things are connected.

Quit trying to use the SEARCH function. It does not work properly.

Just dig down through the myriad mess presented and you will eventually find what you are looking for.

Sorry, we watch on a television and it does not support screen shots.

I cannot speak to Cinemax. While we have all of the movie channels, we generally watch only HBO and SHOWTIME. I have not done searches for any Showtime content.

We run one 722 and two 722Ks and the menus are convoluted and require immense patience, but can be navigated if you are willing to spend a long time looking what you are looking for.

Current 722 Software: L722
Current 722K Software: L750

From what I have seen of the HOPPER and Joey, these menus will be much easier to navigate. We are awaiting pricing information and will probably purchase outright and self-install -- again, depending on the CONTENT PRICES.

Those shows are simply not there in the HBO section. That is why people want to see screenshots of where you are finding them.

You would get the screen shots by talking pics of your TV screen, not by capturing directly. Very simple really.

No disrespect intended, but, without some concrete evidence of something that is seemingly not possible, it makes it hard to believe what you are saying.

Season One was 12 episodes so what's available is the season finale of One, and all of Season Two. I have a different problem though. I'm on Episode 17 and it says "Available to watch in 23m" when trying to watch. It counts down to between 15m and 16m, and never gets any further. I assume it eventually gives up because it never shows in "My Rentals". If I go back in the HBO section of Tv Shows I can start the process all over again.

This is the HD version not SD. Haven't tried to watch the SD but might have to as a last resort. Internet connection is fine, no problems with non HBO shows/movies.

On Demand should mean I can watch it instantly, not in 1 hr 15 min. I guess the Powerline connection is pretty much worthless for streaming. I know my internet speed is fast enough, my BluRay player works great.
The interface does suck.

I have no idea why that is happening. People such as myself don't have a problem at all, others do, and it seems independent of internet speed connection.

Okay question? Why when I watch HBO in the TV movies area since as replays of "Deadwood" do they all start disappearing after I watch them? I started with #1 thru 14 and now they only show 1-6?

Did I miss something? After you watch them once they are gone?

I watched a couple more BE episodes last night, and the HD versions began streaming immediately. The other night they wouldn't start at all. Related to traffic on their servers? Who knows.

I only see episodes 13-24 available. Where exactly did you find episodes 1-6 and 1-14 before that?

Please be as precise as possible in your description. Thanks.
Three weeks ago I had a listing of 1-14 now its 1-6. I watched episode 3, 4 5 and 6. Then it started at episode 8-thru 11 and now its episode 14 thru 19
