I had my install today for DishTv and it went extremely well. The guys who came out to install it (one trainee, and one veteran tech) were incredibly nice and extremely helpful. They even got me setup to a 4th orbital location (61.5)! They took the old Dish Network dish that had been here and exchanged it for a Dish 500. So they installed a Dish 1000.2 which is for the 110, 119, and 129, and they installed the Dish 500 for 61.5. I honestly didn't think they'd do it, though I did have to slip him a slight fib for him to feel ok about it as i think he knew why I wanted it. Lets just say paying $2/month for the Euro News channel made things ok, and I can drop that after a month, I believe.
As for the service itself, the HD quality is MOSTLY excellent. A&E doesn't look so good, but for the most part, the picture quality is as good or better than what I had with Time Warner. The downside is the PQ of the SD channels is quite a bit worse than on Time Warner. It's not unwatchable, but it is pretty bad. But finally having a good selection of HD channels that look fantastic makes up for that in my mind. Still too early to give a meaningful review, but I'm definitely happy at this point!
One problem I haven't solved is getting the vip622 to work on the in-home cabling for my tv upstairs. It's not a huge deal that I haven't figured it out as there is a box up there, but i was hoping to get it to work so I could access the recordings on the 622. I have the RF out from the 622 to the cable jack on the wall where I used to access my cable, just like I'm supposed to, but it won't work. Anyone have any tips with this?
Also, how long should I wait to "move" and FINALLY get my Philly locals here after having truly moved away from there 5 years ago?
