DISH Introduces Flex Pack

So I hadn't been able to get locals from via my OTA adapter on my Hopper 2 to show program info without subscribing to locals, even though some have been lucky. I tried adding locals back for a few days and getting rid of them again to see if the tag "stuck" but they all went away again. So I went to my basement, dusted off my TiVo Premiere with lifetime service, and got it up and running to be able to service my locals with that DVR! Not the most convenient, but at least now we have an option for the few times we do watch locals (which isn't enough to warrant the $10 per month).

Yep, not for the same reasons but I use a lifetime Tivo because we get every local and even some out of market and it has four tuners. That helps insure I don't need more DISH receivers because most all recording is cable channels only from satellite that way. (I got an excellent deal through Amazon last year)

Can we add more than one OTA tuner to the Hopper? If I could do that perhaps I wouldn't need to subscribe to the locals.

There are other ways than TIVO to get an OTA DVR recorder if that would be an option and require no ongoing fees. But you need to buy the DVR receiver and in some cases add an external hard drive yourself.

My gut says if half the customers save $30, ALL the customers will get a $15 increase in about a year.

We are still watching channels through the OTA adapter on our DISH receiver (like the Olympics right now), but for the pure DVR purposes of my wife's two favorite shows, we are using the TiVo to schedule those recordings this fall. Yes, we could stream them via our laptops or our one tablet, but we rather watch TV shows, on TV (may be a rarity for millennials to do it this way yet, but I guess we are old fashioned!)

Flex pack not offered PI and Shopping channels?
They aren't included in the listings but I think we do in fact get them. I block them and did so before switching to Flex so they would remain blocked.

Looking at DishAnywhere, I see plenty of shopping channels (DA seems to ignore what is blocked at the receiver level).

Just dropped the Top 200 at $79.99 for the Flex + Locals + Variety...new bill (for programming) $50.99...gets me everything I care about...sweet!

I looked at the same thing but no NHL Network and no NBCSN which is important in my house come October. Plus, no local RSNs for me either way which is why I'm holding status quo until I see what Charter does in my area after they take over TWC.

Yes not bad at all. And I am not a fan of DISH TV ads overall. Hopper ones were about the only ones that were good, but Directv ads have always been much better to me.

They're only better if you switched to Direct.
