DISH in the Bahamas?

We're buying a vacation home on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. We want to bring our 921 receiver with us and use it there, but DISH says they don't provide service in the Bahamas. It's 233 miles due east of Miami -- can't we just point a dish at the same satellite(s) they use there? (We live in Colorado, and I'm guessing we point to different satellites than Floridians do?)

If y'all think it's possible, what's the cheapest satellite dish (and/or LNB) we can use to get HD with a 921 receiver, and where do we point it? (I'm hoping my husband can install the dish, since obviously DISH won't be coming out to do it!)

Sorry if any of these questions are stupid -- I'm new to the forum and not all that knowledgeable about satellite stuff in general! Thanks for your help!!!

110 and 119 are at elevations of something like 34 deg and 42 deg from Eleuthra.
61.5 is at about 55 degrees.

So can you see teh satellites? yes.
Do you have beam coverage there? I don't know.
Someone else will have to chime in on that one.

129 is low at about 25 degrees. Barring any obstructions you might be able to "see" it, but again, the beam coverage may be problematic.

Wouldn't it be easier to just to take your laptop and buy a slingbox.

I have a friend with a place on Spanish Wells. He has friends on North Eluthra. They are all able to get dish. Most of the people down there use dish. How far down Eluthra are you? Note: You will have to have the receiver piggy-backed on an account on the mainland. Also, you won't get the Bahamas locals.

Note: reread your original post. Just point dish at 110/119. Same satellites most of your programming comes off already in CO.

DISH might be saying they don't provider service there for legal reasons as opposed to technical reasons. The Bahamas are not part of the USA and DISH is a US satellite provider.

Just wanted to thank you guys for the advice. We're 50 or so miles south of Spanish Wells, so I think this will work for us. Will report back if it all works out!
