i had sd of espn news for 3 days and now nothing.... with nephews and nieces here this week (making for 6 kids in the house) i hope the weather tays nice so they can stay outside
Perhaps the Sd looks good to us with HD is because the sd on the eastern arc is mpeg-4 and not 2 which has more compression? that of course assumes you are on the eastern arc.

DISNEY is the company that pulled the HD feeds , NOT DISH. IF you want to be mad at someone direct it towards old Mickey Mouse himself.
Screw Disney. They destroy media. Look what they did to abc radio networks before they sold it to citadel.
With 7 year old in the house they need to fix this crap. Comcast finally got their signal to me fixed last week. If it wasn't for HDNet and all the external HDs I have filled with HD movies of films not out in BD yet, I would be calling Comcast up right now, they are so eager for customers, I got HSI installed on Easter morning. And they stream TV to your computers, so its just like Sling.
I'm a fairly new subscriber to Dish and admittedly don't watch much in SD...however the channels that I have watched look decidedly better in SD than with Time Warner Cable. In fact, most of the SD is really darn good. Very clear, vivid and almost "semi-HD-like" for lack of a better term. Perhaps it's just that SD on TWC was so bad. But anyway, I don't cringe anymore like I used to do when I want to watch something that is not in HD. Admittedly, I still prefer the HD!
By the way, speaking from the perspective of watching this on a 55" Samsung LED-LCD (so definitely not a small screen).
Same here. I have a 40" Sammy LCD and I would say 90% of the SD on Dish is very good. When I had Insight cable, SD was crappy. I fined with Dish, that only certain stations seem to always have low quality SD.

Has anybody been notified of Dish's programming change *by Dish*? I never received any sort of notice from them. There's nothing on their home page under "Dish News." This didn't even make Dish's own Investor News feed. It seems to me that Dish failed to meet its obligation to notify us.
It certainly doesn't help Dish's case in terms of customer perception....

When Dish shuts down a channel such as these, they leave a slate up telling you that the channel is no longer available. That's your notification. They are following their contract very well....

I was not notified. Also this says Dish can do what they want. Disney removed the channels. Dish didn't plan on this.
I didn't get any notification either. The channels just disappeared from my guide list.
It is still bad PR for Dish dragging this out so long. Makes me think of alternatives. Even though I do not watch these channels on a regular basis, it just shows that on Dish any channel could go at any time for any length of time Dish decides they are not getting the deal they want. They next channel block could be one that I watch all the time.
I agree. And I am surprised it has taken so long for this to play out. And even more surprised that it is not resolved yet.
Even more annoying, some of the HD channels on Dish Network may not be under contract, or some of the HD channels not on Dish Network could be subject to a lawsuit.mike123abc said:
