And it should be dish last channel priority anyway. There are more important channel that are missing in HD for us that needs to be made available to us e.g. nbc, NBCSN,amc, science hd among others. Happy to get espnu, disney and abc family in HD though

Why 110 & 61.5 which is mainly used for SD channels?

Further, since day one of Dish's large, expanded launch of HD channels something like 4+ years ago, a number of HD channels were originally put at and some still remain at 110 (I'm not talking about the very few LEGACY HD channels like HBO East, Showtime East, etc. that were at 110 even longer ago and only at the old wing slots before that), mostly likely because of the sat launch to 61.5 (AMC 15?) that FAILED. Over time, or at least since last year, I thought I had observed even a few MORE HD channels that were at 129 moved to 110. Yes, as stated in the earlier response, most likely 110 is where it made more sense to put the new and returned Disney HD channels. I would think Dish would rather further degrade the SD channels (at 119 and 110) than further degrade the HD channels that they are trying to provide at the best possible PQ their resources would allow.

Were these 4 HD Channels added to Dish America, or were they only added to the Top 120 and above packages?

They are basic channels. Getting them back, in my opinion, is giving us something back that should have been there all along in it's rightful place.

And that we may be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of ending some of the SD channels.

Actually we had ESPN News in HD a few years back and now Dish is acting like they giving us something new.

It is new to a good portion of current subscribers. Been with them close to as long as anyone and I can't even remember it being in HD so it's new to me too.

Just briefly, we lost the ESPNEWS HD when the dustup between Dish and Disney occurred because Disney wouldn't allow ESPNU HD to be carried on Dish without additional payments. Dish contended it had the contractual right to broadcast HD without paying additional fees for it since other carriers were being provided the right to carry HD without additional fees. The courts concluded that contract provision did not apply to HD. As I recall, Dish then was forced to discontinue HD coverage of ESPNEWS and ABCFamily as well, since it was not paying the additional fee for that programming. I think Dish also had to make back payment to Disney for the unauthorized coverage of the HD programming for those channels.

Yep, Dish took all those HD feeds away from their subscribers but never lowered the costs. Now that they're back on it's amusing listening to a few posters proclaim that we have "new" HD channels when actually Dish is just catching up to every other provider. But yet we're still missing a few that they took away from us.

This has been discussed over and over again. You don't know if they did or did not "lower" the cost. It isn't going to be "lowered" when they are dropped no more than your cost goes up at the time channels are added. It's how much programming goes up yearly. Since DISH has consistently had lower package prices overall, it is very possible the cost was "lowered" or packages cost a little less because DISH was not paying for the HD version.

AND Dish did not drop the channels, Disney pulled the channels, the amount of fees paid to Disney did not drop, Dish's costs did not drop, Disney went stinky and said "well technically, the contract does not include HD for those channels so turn them off."
