Dish earnings Dish Network Earnings Fall; EchoStar Profit Jumps - WSJ.com
Dish reported a profit of $225.7 million, or 50 cents a share, down from $334.8 million, or 75 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue edged down 0.5% to $3.57 billion.
Last month, Dish said it lost about 10,000 net subscribers in the second quarter, following a robust gain in the preceding quarter. The average monthly subscriber churn rate, which gauges the number of customers dropping the satellite-TV company's offerings, was 1.6%. A sustained decline in the number of people subscribing to pay TV has ramifications for pay-TV operators and for TV channels, most of which share in the fees paid by subscribers.
