Dish DVR510 question...

I'm very new to satellite tv and I can't seem to find an answer to this question anywhere.

I have a Dish Network DVR510 and for some reason when I surf the guide, on occasion it will shut down...rescan for satellites and take me back to where I was. Why does it do this? My signal strength is good (around 90) for both 119 and 110.

Is this something that can be fixed or should I get a new receiver?

The 9-day guide is stored on disk. I suspect your hdd is about to fail.

The 510 is/was a very stable single tuner dvr. When I used them they would on occasion have a software update issue caused by Dish. Probably within a year or so they will be fazed out. With the problem you are having like Krell said the hd may have problems. I would call Dish and discuss the issue with them. Recieving a replacement 510 may cause more problems because you will not get a new one. Might be time to upgrade to a newer model. obtw Good Luck and Welcome to SatelliteGuys.
