DISH DVR 922 RELEASE DATE????

I'll be trying for the same thing, though for various reasons I probably won't be trying until mid-June.

My guess is there will be a one-time "lease fee", and it could be hefty - $200? (I have no basis for estimating this other than that I seem to remember that has been the going rate for upgrades to certain other units when they came out.)

CDH.

If it's $200, I'm not getting one. You could get a Slingbox Solo for that. And that doesn't even have a monthly fee.

And yes, I know that won't do HD, but at the rate my ISP is uping upload speeds (i.e. not at all), it will be years before I could stream HD.

This upcoming 922 could pose folks with some decsions to make, especially for those who are nearing the end of a contract or out of one.

Do you make the jump and get the 922 and know that you are locked in for two years or do you just get a sling box so you can see what others may are doing in the future (like for me what kind of HD expansion Direct has in the future) I think I would be staying with Dish as I have no issues with them and enjoy the HD that I have. But this could be a discsion for some??

Well, I called yesterday and they told me to call back today because it would be released April 1. When I called today, they said it isn't available and they don't know when it will be.

From what I have seen the monthly DVR fee will go to $10 a month if you have a 922 on your account.

I have a 922 on my account and so far am paying $6 for the DVR fee not $10.

BTW if you want a laught please read this one from the other site...

Vip922 DuoDVR availability - DBSTalk.Com

Just goes to show why we are America's Satellite Information Source. :)

They seem mean over at that other site. Not to pick them apart but the moderator over there said no more threads about 922 release date unless it comes from a reliable source like Charlie Chat. Charlie said April 1st.

Just talked to Dish on the phone and they said release has been delayed to April 17

Is your source at Dish someone that has given you reliable info before that you could trust? Or was it just a CSR that likely doesn't really know anything? Dish does not have a great record of keeping their front line CSR's up to date on new releases. Scott just quoted one of his sources and posted a 4/7 release date. I think I'd go with 4/7.

It was a CSR

The release should happen this month. Not sure on an exact date though. I know that our distributor has them in stock already and is preparing for the release.

The funny thing is that if it is released on April 7th and you call in to order one, the CSR that you talk with will likely know nothing about it! Charlie should require that all of his CSR's log in to SatelliteGuys.us at least weekly to keep up to date with what's going on!

It is offical now. It will be released April 7th. Looks like it retails for $649. $200 upgrade cost for new DHA customers, $600 for DHA TOO and FlexTV customers. For existing customers its anywhere from $200 to $400 to upgrade. It is releasing as a dual tuner for 1 TV.

Man just like I said a few weeks ago. :)

I need a longer arm so I can pat myself on the back better. :D :D

A $200.00 Upgrade lease fee...that is step...and a good way for them to recoup at least part of its dev cost. And if understand what was said above that is for NEW customers and existing customers will pay $200 to $400 all depending on their standing with Dish?

I've waited all this time, to find that it will not work for me since I use my VIP622 to watch Dish in my living room and master bedroom. This sucks.

From press release:

• Solo Mode by Default – The model ViP922 receiver is a single-TV solution, and therefore will remain in single user mode by default. The receiver will only go into Duo mode when remote viewing is in session. Once the remote viewing session has ended, the receiver will return to Solo mode. Please note that the MODE button on the front of the receiver will not be enabled and installation of the TV2 physical outputs of the receiver is not supported.

Ferris you need to read SatelliteGuys more... we have been talking about this issue for awhile now.

Luckily there is a solution in the works. :)

You are right, sorry. I hadn't heard that until I read the press release. Anyhow, I guess I'll just wait longer until this bad boy can pipe a signal to my bedroom like my ol' trusty 622 (whose hdmi is out btw!)

Sounds like you got one of the early 622 units. They had HDMI issues. :)

If you on the Dish Protection Plan give them a call and have it replaced.
