DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I Think they may be running out of Roku's. I was only offered my Premiums at a discount for 6 months. NO mention of a ROKU. I bated them as best I could. And they would not take it.
ON to an account specialist. Number 55 in QUEU. 55 minute expected wait time.
I'm actually looking for a reason to "Cut the cord". So I'm not really looking for anything free, as much as I'm looking to see if it's just time to save myself about $100/month, and go with OTA and Streaming from now on.

They told me there was no such offer for a roku at first.I said I know better and mentioned reading of customers getting one both here and on fb.They started sweetening the pot lil by lil.I finally said it may be time to switch to a new provider and bam,the next 2 questions the rep asked were do you have broadband, and do you have wifi.We do have a roku offer after all.

OK so I had been rebuffed three times all by the Loyalty department saying that I was not eligible for the free Roku. I just now called #: 1-888-873-5765 (Special Retention Team) and wow was the lady I got nice. There was no wait time unlike the online chat and when I mentioned the free Roku offer she immediately said ok and offered me the $35 credit to cover one season of Walking Dead!. I didnt push or ask for any credits as I already have two on my account. I am only 3 months into a recent upgrade so am still in contract. It has certainly been fustrating today but finally I found a good number and spoke to a friendly understanding person who helped me out. Even though I marked no on the poll.....I now have to change that to a yes. If you are having trouble with the Loyalty Department try the Special Retention Team.

The dept you refer to is called the "executive resolutions team".

I got off the phone from retentions just now. They spent forever telling me what Roku was but didn't want to offer it, kept offering me 6 months of $10 credits, then offered the possibility of a year... I told the rep that I Googled Roku to find out about it and saw a forum where people were being sent them for free. She went on hold for a few mins and came back and said she could send me one, plus a one time $35 credit to make up for what I am going to have to pay for Walking Dead Season 3.

According to her AMC is gone for good too, she was very specific about that....

I wish Dish would stop worrying about pinching every penny and do what is really good for their customers, which is not lose 2 of the biggest shows on TV now.... The Roku thing is pretty good though I have little use for it other than Walking Dead...

Thanks for the tip. Yesterday was told I would be getting the Roku, today I get a run around when I called to confirm.

They did not directly address the question when I posed it, I think they could be running out. They offered me 10 bucks a month discount for one year. That will cover some Amazon downloads for a while. :) I have a Roku anyway.

It was offered to us yesterday, along with $10 credit/month for 6 months and I didn't ask for it. Seems like they are trying to weasel out of it now.

Thanks for the correction......whatever it may be called its the only luck I have had today in getting the offer.

Glad you got it worked out, I could tell from earlier posts you were getting frustrated. The ERT folks are the get it done people at dish.

Yes!....it was very frustrating!. One answer from one place and another from somewhere else. I was even flat out lied to!. I was getting very frustrated!. I will certainly keep the info on this department handy for possible future use!.

I just now called #: 1-888-873-5765 (Special Retention Team).
Thanks for the heads up.
Saved me another 20+ minutes I would have been waiting for my CHAT Queu.
They offered me the roku, plus $10 credit for 6 months and Half off my hbo/starz package for 6 months.
Not bad, considerig they are not forcing people to sign a new contract for these credits.
I still may go with OTA and streaming if the rates get to crazy in February.
And yes, the special retention team are Very nice.

Hello guys! I was thinking of switching to Dish but with the whole AMC thing I think I will hold off for a while. I do have a question though. If I would get say The Walking Dead from Amazon will I have to just stream them or can I download a file too? I'm just weighing my options.

By the way I have lurked here for a while. This is a great site. I also lurked over at DBS Talk and I have to say some of those guys are real jerks. Most of them are on Dish's side and go after anyone that says different. Plus if you take the Roku deal a few of them will bad mouth you for it. It's really sad.
