Easier solution: Settle BEFORE the contract ends
I agree Hall but greed has to stop on both sides

Easier solution: Settle BEFORE the contract ends
Here is the official statement from Dish.....Of course the link is DISH Satellite TV Packages From $19.99 | Satellite Television Service | DISHThis is starting to really get old! I'm sitting here watching my local news and I get a scrolling message across the top of my screen saying that this channel (WTVC in Chattanooga) will no longer be available on Dish after August 16th. What is the deal with this company? I appreciate the fact that they fight to keep our rates low. But at some point something's got to give. I've learned to deal with the fact that I can't watch ESPNU in HD (along with Disney and Fueltv). And I wasn't happy losing AMC, but the fact I really only watched one show on that channel, the free Roku helped with that issue. But I cannot handle losing my local channels. Especially with the new tv season approaching. I wonder how many pennies this squabble is over? I really hope this gets worked out. I love my Hopper and the technology that Dish offers but I think I would have to change providers if there's no ABC. I wonder if Dish would provide an ABC from another market in its place?
What I find interesting is this....If pay tv subs do not have access to local channels as they did not via satellite reception, those stations would get NOTHING..It would seem to me that each station owner would be grateful to get even one dollar per sub in their DMA.
Now it seems these large companies that own several stations some have multiple stations in one DMA( I think this should be illegal) are simply demanding these rates because they can.
Question is when this comes to a head, who blinks first.
They have a "form" already done up and saved. It looks like this:I find it interesting that Sinclair notes their stations are available on Directv, FIOs and ATT. Well, that is until those contracts run out and then they will face the same highway robbery.

Can Dish get those local channels from another state until this dispute are resolved?
No
There are a few very rare instances where Dish has been able to import an affiliate signal from a neighboring market, but 99.9% of the time they can not offer another markets signals.
