I am currently a DirecTV subscriber and would like to take my receiver out to our ranch on the weekends. There is currently a DISH network dish installed at the ranch house. Can I just reorient the DISH to point at the DirecTV satellites and attach the receiver, or do I need to get a DirecTV dish for out there?

Welcome to Satelliteguys!! :welcome

As long as the DISH dish has a legacy LNB on the dish (meaning it doesn't say DP or DishPro) then it will work.

Not quite right, only a Legacy dual or single LNB will work with Directv. A DISH Twin or Quad has a switch built in that is not compatible with Directv, even a SW-21 switch has to be removed. :)
