For the better part of a year, I have been receiving phone calls from individuals claiming to be DISH, same with Caller ID. Caller states that they have been notified that my system is having problems and can send a technician over promptly. Since I have not seen any problems and the timing was inconvenient I have put the situation on the back burner. And I guess I have gotten to be the suspicious type with all the phone scams perpetrated today (Microsoft, IRS, law enforcement, sell-your-timeshare, utilities shutoff, etc. fakes).
I know my receivers are connected to the internet, but did not think they sent feedback to DISH. And if there were equipment problems, why does the equipment not notify the user in some way?
So when called yesterday, I asked the caller which equipment was acting up ( I have 3 HWS and 5 Joeys). She couldn't tell me what tech was acting up or even what the problem reported was. But the technician visit would be free (free service call ???). At that time I thanked her for the call and promised I would make an appointment when more convenient. Assuming this is a legitimate DISH call, are they just trying to get someone in my door, with the cover of a service call, in order to up-sell me or some other way to get me to get out my checkbook.
