Netflix announced a deal with Dreamworks to stream their specials and movies, estimated to be worth $30mil per movie to Dreamworks. Do you really think Dish will ever spend that kind of money for content? This is actually a pretty big deal... Dreamworks went with Netflix instead of a less lucrative agreement with HBO.
Amazon announced a deal with 20th Century Fox today, bumping their streaming service to 11k movies and TV shows once it's rolled out and will have more than doubled the amount of content since the beginning of the year.
This deal Netflix just announce doesn't take start until 2013. To me it sounds a little like damage control and not very good damage control at that. If you read the full article next year Netflix is losing it's rights to stream Disney & Sony, and having to wait until 2013 to start streaming Dream Works...well, wow, in 2013 we'll be able to stream "Kung-Fu Panda" & "Shrek". Like who hasn't seen those movies by now??? And even though I agree that this move by Dish isn't aimed at just Netflix, a lot can happen in two years with Dish/BB getting more rights, specially if studios out there start feeling that Dish is getting the lion share of streaming customers.

If I selectt DP, I get a Welcome screen with a statement I have to agree to. Then I get an Explore Movies screen. From there there are a number of options. Once you select a filter and search, you can toggle between all and free by pressing the * key. Didn't go any further.
DISH will still have those films via Starz. Dreamworks just made a deal with Netflix so they could continue to stream those films after 2012.This deal Netflix just announce doesn't take start until 2013. And so they didn't have to pull their movies from iTunes when they go to HBO.DISH will still have those films via Starz. Dreamworks just made a deal with Netflix so they could continue to stream those films after 2012.
Hi all,
Just wondering if Dish is going to make this available to the people that don't have a HD receiver? I don't have a LOS for hd.
Thanks,
