Dish alignment struggles

I have what I believe is a 1000.2 Turbo hd dish, connecting to a vip211k receiver. My dish has the WA 3 receiver LNB. I'm trying to find 119 on transponder 11, but no signal at all. I use the Az, El settings recommended for the 49812 area code, but nothing? I tried on 110 and managed to pickup 129, but it was so touchy it would not stay locked. I'm also switching the 211 from my home dish, which is EA for the cabin setup, WA. I hooked my RG6 up to port 1 on the LNB, do I need to be using tin foil on the two outer LNB's?

If you set the skew properly and the elevation it should be just a matter of turning it right and left as long as there is a clear Line of Sight. Target 119 and Transponder 16 to get the thing locked and then check the other sats after you tighten it down some to see if they are picking up.

I dont think the tree should be much a factor, as I have some trees in my neighbor yard that is a good 100 ft tall, i wish I could chop it down. I live in hawaii use a dish 1000.2 wa, it was difficult picking up the 129 signal at all. My question when you go to the signal screen does it show a red bar on the 110 and says something like this this wrong sat 129. If so run a check switch, and everything should be all good after that. That is what I did, after I found 129 sat showing on the 110, then everything should be working fine.

If you're hitting 129 when looking for 110 you're pointed too low. Need to raise your elevation up (start at about a 4 degree increase and go up from there if need be) and aim more to the left.

Thanks, I also picked up Sat finder ( Radio shack version) to see if I can lock on easier.

I have the mount straight in both directions, check switch was performed but I don't think I paused long enough from what I'm reading when I was trying to adjust my azimuth? I was making small quick movements. My location calls for AZ 225.4, 29 EL & 27 Skew. I will go back up on Thurs. with the cheapo meter and see if I can get it right this time.

Also, I read that I should disconnect the sat line into the receiver and run check switch to reset first? I did not do this.

Thanks.

run check switch and post back the order the satellites are listed.

119 should be first, then 110, followed by 129.

if you get anything other then 119 first your alingment is off.
