Sorry if this has be asked before. I recently had my roof replaced and the guys who did it mounted my dish "right back where it was". I know they are not install tech's but i figured ok let them give it a try.

Everything seems to work except my locals. Every time I switch to a local the receiver goes into the search mode and then to a dish message saying not to call they know they know are having problems. ( I'm guessing this is Murphy's law in action or just pure coincidence this happened. )

My signal strength is only about 10 to 15 is this the problem.

Thanks I think I might give it a try myself before I pay a service call. I would guess it wont need moved all that much. If all else fails I wall call somebody. Again thanks for the help

You need to fine-adjust the dish again. You nationals are coming in because they are on 119 satellite which is a little more forgiving w/alignment. However, your locals are probably off 110 or 129 and those are more 'burpy.' I'm surprised you're getting anything considering how a roofer would define "right back".

10-15 is low, but also remember they redid the signal strength so, even if you don't get 50 range, it doesn't mean you won't have a signal. The key is just get it as high as possible by slowly moving back/forth, up & down.

Check w/dish (not sure if you can find it online--but haven't tried either) to see which transponder to use for aiming. I know some of my transponders & spot beams are always 0 because I'm not in the geographical area they are "shining on."

If you have basic do-it-yourself skills, you should be able to do this. Just have a buddy in front of the TV with a cell phone and call each other so he can tell you signal strength as you adjust. (Wives work too, but I've found buddies are better.)
 
Your mast is probably no longer plumb. The thickness of the shingles under the mast changed when you reroofed. Take your time you can probably improve signals by making small movements.
 
Trying to peak a dish that is on the roof is a pain. You need to be able to hear or see the signal strength change. I guess if you have someone read the signal and then come outside after you moved it. I would try azimuth first and then go for elevation. Keep in mind changing weather conditions specially on a partly cloudy day as the clouds move by. I also would take in consideration the screen warning. Just may be an issue with Dish. Something beyond your control. Above all be careful on that roof! Good luck!
 
unless your mast is way off it will probablly be easier to just leave it and make the adjustments on the dish itself. As others said, have someone stand in front of the tv with the signal strength screen on (menu 6-1-1) you most likely wont get it PERFECT but im sure you can get it close enough to have good tv again
 
if you cant get a better strenth call dish to send a tech out,they will give in on the service charge if you just tell them it quit and that you dont know why. if they try to charge tell them you will just "cancel" THEY WILL OVER RIDE THE SERVICE FEE.
