Dish Acknowledges HDMI issues with MPEG4 receivers

Ptech,

I also have my phone connected to my 211 and it hasn't caused a problem yet. I did notice that the caller ID is not working. I know it's not the line because it worked on the 522 that I replaced. I think I'm going to use the composite connections until this gets straightened out. I don't want anything to get fried.

Funny you should mention that, when I spoke the the gentlemen about the problem with the phone connection, he asked about my Internet access. I told him that I have 6meg DSL with filters in place (good filters). He told me when I get my new receiver to put two filters in line as some of these receivers have been known to ANSWER THE PHONE. He said "I know it sounds crazy but just do it".

I wonder if it can pay bills too?;)

I have 2 411s since they were released and have had no problems with either. The 1 in my computer/ radio roomis the 1 that gets the wokout and I have not had a single glich. In fact just friday I was surfing between Dicovery HD and HBO HD and no gliches. The only thing I see is my monitor need about 3 - 4 seconds to "sync" up when I go from SD to HD.

BTW it would be nice if E* would offer The National Geographic HD channel soon.

The only problem I have had with my 211 is the caller ID is not displaying till about the 3rd ring.

Other than that, HDMI is working just fine for over 2 weeks now.

Which output are you using? Even though my HDMI is fried, my component outputs still work.

I have a 211 and my hdtv does not have the HDMI input. What happens in a year or so when I buy a new hdtv with hdmi inputs and it smokes my new TV after the 211 is out of warranty. Also, my 211 is working perfect, so when I get home I am going to turn off automatic software updates forever.

I would suggest that Dish start participating in Silicon Images compatibility testing for their products ;)

Methinks they would smoke an output or two during that period and figure out something is up then.

Well then again, they don't really call it HDMI so...

I agree with you except that E* uses the customer as the testing grounds. A perfect example is the 811.

Thanks,

How about off the back on the sticker on the right side, there is a mainboard revision number?
Mainboard:RB43223Q00954M

I will compare all to the replacement arriving today. Well, at least it suppose to arrive today.

I've had my 411 a little over a month now I got them when they were first available. I had an hdmi problem with my dvi-d connector in my tv. I got it working once and its been fine ever since. At first my caller id didn't work and this last weekend I noticed it was working. I still have the same software as the original install.

The sd picture is watchable where my 811 sucked big time. I had 2 811's in 3 months and both were bad and had lousy pictures.

I'm pretty happy with my 411.

I actually have both the component and HDMI outputs hooked up. In my "Theater Room" the component goes to my receiver first then is routed to the monitor. The HDMI output goes to a DVI switch box then to the monitor (the monitor has a DVI input).

In my computer room, the component goes directly to the monitor and the HDMI goes to a HMDI switch box.

In both installations I am switching between a DVD player and the 411. Maybe the switch boxes are "acting" as a buffer?

Q U E S T I O N : On the 211 and 622 receivers, is the optical output disabled while the HDMI output is enabled? I ask this because 9 out of 10 pieces of A/V equipment seem to do this!

I use an HDMI to DVI cable, and the optical output is functioning just fine.

On both setups the optical output is working fine, all though I had a cable problem last week with 1 installation and had to just re-seat the optical cable.
