Yes. 441 was pretty good for most. They wanted to release 443 into the wild a step at a time, probably to check for unexpected problems before sending it out to everybody.
i wish you could transfer to external in groups now that it can be sorted by date. I really could not use it until they added the sort but now it would be nice to move all grouped shows.

Looks like L4.43 is going out to all receivers tomorrow.

Effective Tuesday, September 11th, Engineering plans to spool the FULL PHASE of software version L4.43 for the ViP 622 DVR receiver. This is primarily a non-forced maintenance release available at ALL satellite locations.
At this time L4.43 will be the valid software version for the ViP 622 DVR.

Mine rec'd L4.43 late last week but was NOT in the "group" you posted previously. Did a partial release get past you ?

and today was the full phase.
Forgive me but I have searched and read dozens and dozens of 443 update posts but I haven't found a detailed description that describes what changes I will see. I got it last night and rebooted a while ago and can't see any changes to favorites or my recordings though these seem to be "fixed" or changed in some way. What do they look like? What menus are different?

I don't know what this means. I can't see anything different on my Favorites List
I can't figure this one out either. My Recordings looks just like it used to, as far as I can see.
Anyone having any HDMI issues with the new update? 2 posters over at AVS are reporting their Panasonic projectors no longer work with Dish (over HDMI) since their dvrs were upgraded to Rev L433. They say component still works fine.
I'm a bit concerned as I plan to purchase the same projector very soon and generally use HDMI only.
Man, I'm no luddite, but it seems like this Dish software upgrades perhaps a bit TOO often?

Push GUIDE on your remote and watch the top-left banner. Where it reads "All Sub" or "All Chan" or whatever list you're in at the moment, that will change to the 'next' list available, then back, and keep cycling. It's a non-feature.... IMO, it's another "stupid user enhancement".
In My Recordings list, notice the "Group" button now ?? Try it... I'm guessing you've missed this that was added in L4.41. With that release, you had one sorting option. Now you have two.

Ah so. Clever in a way.
I was all over groups in 441. But now I still just see "No Groups" and "Group by Title" Do I need to re-boot again or is there another place to see the sort options?
Is it that on the main sort options even though I am using groups I still have the Alpha and DVR Date options? I don't remember it being different before. But often I don't remember much, I think.

The sort button should be on the same screen that you see "Group". If you do NOT enable grouping, you have many sorting options. Once you enable grouping, your sorting options are reduced to (2). With L4.41, you had (1) option only.

It's as I thought, I didn't remember 441 having only one.
I think I had the last Tech Chat on my brain because all I could think about was the claim that at some future date we would be able to create our own folders a la Windows.
As a professional GUI programmer, I feel qualified to clarify this one.
A "stupid user enhancement" is a user interface enhancement that helps stupid users.
A good example is the settings for "minutes early" and "minutes late". Instead of letting you specify any number which would be ideal for power users, instead the user interface scrolls up and down between a limited number of settings (eg if you want 6 minutes, you are out of luck).
"Stupid user enhancements" are the sort of thing mandated by the Marketing Department as a requirement for the Engineering Department.
Your homework assignment is to rent the TV series "Dilbert" and start with Episode One, please.

Yeap ... engineering types would argue "if users read the manuals, they'd know there are multiple guide options available".

Last night I setup all my season prem.. for next weeks Sun-Thur..All for new episodes.
Tonight on my VIP622 - L443 I noticed in the guide for next week Non of them showed the icon to be recorded. Thinking I missed something I set them again. I looked in the Timers for next week and all my shows from last night were there and all the ones for tonight were X because it said..Dup recording.
Seems L443 dropped the To Be Record icon on shows in the guide.
I called Support and reported it. Seems there starting to get calls.
Hope I dont miss any shows next week.

Look at your timers again and tell me if they are set for the network channel or for the 4 digit channel Dish actually places the HD channel on and then maps down.

Yep - I've made this mistake. With the mapdown the channel is there a bunch of times. I try to always base timers on the dish non-map numbers. This way if I disable the mapdown, the timer doesn't get broken.
HBO and other premiums are like this too. Especially with there being two 300's (one hd and one sd).
If you program with a dish pass the lowest channel number appears to be used first.
I've got L443 but the "External Hard Drive Recognition fix" is not fixed. I have two 500GB seagate external usb drive and still I have to unplug the power for the 622 to recognize it or get out of the sleeping mode. Anyone has the same experience?
