I am trying to install a Terk 3x4 multi switch to a Dish 500 twin lnb (two room) post 2000. Do I only need to run one of the cables into the multi switch. With both cables I am only getting Sat 119 West. 110 is not present and I am missing channels. The dish directions say that both cables carry both sat signals from the twin lnb. Will a multi switch even work with the Dish 500 twin lnb or do I need a special multi switch? Can someone please explain the proper connections. Thanks for any help.

sounds like you have a multi switch thats only ment for a dual out put lnbf that receives signal from one satellite, you would need a dish pro twin llnbf and a dish pro 34 switch or a quad either legacy or dish pro.

I have a terk 3X4 Powered multiswitch model MSP-34. It does say "compatible with dual output LNB systems." When I bought it from radio shack I didn't know I had a Twin LNB. I didn't even know the difference. I guess the Twin LNB already has a multi switch at the dish. Is there a multi switch for a Dish 500 Twin LNB for adding receivers to a two receiver system? You mentioned a couple of things, but I didn't catch the brand names (dish pro or legacy)? what is the installation procedure? Thanks for the help.

Well that depends on what "TWIN" you have.

I am pretty sure you have a Legacy twin at this point. If it was Dishpro it would say DP Twin in the check switch screen, and there would be a big DP on the front of the LNB case.

If you are wanting to run more than 2 receivers you are going to have to change LNB's. You will have to go and get a couple of Legacy Duals and use the switch you have if you have legacy receiver.

What model receivers do you have?

Terk Multiswitch

That 3*4 multi switch will only work if you are only looking at one satellite like if you had a Dish 300 or a Directv Dish with 1 dual output lnb.

If you a legacy twin you will need a sw 44 switch which will give you 4 outputs.

If you a a Dish Pro twin lnb you will need a Dp 34 switch which will also give you 4 outputs.

switch

Here are some pics of the Dp 34 sw 44 and sw 64

The twin will not feed an SW44. You would have to change the twin out for two legacy duals and run two additional lines from the dish to the switch. The SW44 needs two lines from each sat location.

OK! I think I am getting some where. Learning has occured. I have a Dish Pro Digital Twin LNBF. I have two Dish Pro DVR 510s and two Dish Pro 301s. Two came with my system from Dish many moons ago and I received a 510 and 301 from my mother in law. I would like to have all four running. The two 510 recorders with the TV and one 301 in the bedroom and one 301 with the computer. Based on previous replys I am guessing I need to purchase a DP 34? Also, is the install basic (self explanatory) once I have the right hardware? Will my mother in law's equipment work once hooked up or do I need to call dish network and add the receivers. Will I need an amplifier? Again, Thank you all for your help and Merry Christmas!

Correct.
Yes.
You gotta call - unless her account is still active and she's paying the bill.
No - unless your cables are too long (200'). Then it becomes complicated.

You also need to be aware that the second 510 will add a second $4.98 VOD fee unless you are subscribing to the Americas Everything pak, plus the $4.99 additional receiver fees.

Dish CSR's... Is there a better way???

Cannot get signal after moving... and no help from dishnetwork
