How on earth, Why?
I have 2 HWS and we watch a lot of tv, so 1 Hopper 3 for us is going to need external storage. What do you guys recommend?
How on earth, Why?
I use the cables that come with item hopper or Joey if it breaks I call dish they send me a new one. LoL I don't see any reason to pay for one. Actually I don't think I have ever needed to call I have a box of brand new ones from all the swap outs they have done over the years.People insist that the 722 has better PQ than the 622, the 722k has better PQ than the 722, and the Hopper has better than the 722k. To a large degree, it's nothing more than a placebo effect - they want there to be a difference, so they are certain they see one (even if they don't).
People spend $100 on fancy HDMI cables and are absolutely certain they can see an improved picture too.
Parts Express is 20 minutes from my home or 2 minutes from my work. I get 6' HDMI cables there all the time and they cost a few $ each.I use the cables that come with item hopper or Joey if it breaks I call dish they send me a new one. Nope I refuse to pay for them. I pay enough for my tv service they can supply my cables. Plus every six months or so send me a new remote for the heck of it. I like the feeling of a new remote.Parts Express is 20 minutes from my home or 2 minutes from my work. I get 6' HDMI cables there all the time and they cost a few $ each.
Explain? Im still on 211/622 xDI'm gonna guess it is still a floating tuner system so that shouldn't matter.
However, I do love to use the side-by-side feature on my 722 and 622 receivers. I imagine that I will be able to continue to do such on the TV on which the Hopper 3 is connected.
So... is there a way to watch two tuners side-by-side on a television that is not connected directely to the Hopper 3, i.e. connected with some form of Joey 4k?
You will not need any more cabling than what you already have. There is only one cable from the dish to the hub, which would be located at your hub area. From there you have one cable each to your receivers. Your Super Joey will have to be replaced by a Joey.Newbie question here - I have a Hooper with Sling, 1 Super Joey and 2 Joeys installed in my house. I had this installed last January. If I were to upgrade to the Hopper 3 would I be looking at any additional lines needing to enter the house? I currently have 2 coax cables that go inside the house to a hub area and then they split off from there to their locations.

Your 622 has a fixed tv1 and tv2 tuner that remain tv1 and tv2 as you go. The hopper uses floating tuners that assign themselves to recordings and tvs as they are turned on, and are given up when turned off or taken over by another tv. Being 16 tuners, I would assume that there won't be too many tuners being taken over and changing.Explain? Im still on 211/622 xD

Probably not.Two questions if I upgrade my two HWS to Hopper 3 and a Joey:
Will the Joey have PIP?
Will the Joey support Bluetooth headphones?

A regular Joey will not have PIP, but I believe the new 4K Joey will be capable of doing PIP.
I heard rumors that it is the same price as a regular Joey. My bet, it will eventually become the standard Joey. No reason for it not to be.Will the 4K Joey cost more?

16 tuners WoW that nice but it all ready a BIG useless paper weight as the spec don't show any listing for HDMI 1.x, And sad part is the new Dish Hopper 4k along with Joey 4k you need all new a TV or Monitor that support 4k and has to have HDMI 2.x port and I wouldn't be at all surprise if some of premium channels will req HDPC 2.2 support in order for them to work.
To me this going to be a big failure unless you got income to burn on all gear.
I am told that with the Hopper 3 it will only accept certain model drives.I wonder I know how you guys are about rules and such....................but has anyone ever tried putting a larger drive in the thing?
